       To be clear, AI does not in fact think or reason.  All it's able to do is deconstruct your input and give you the content that is statistically most likely to satisfy your request, just like Eliza did in the  80s.  It responds with a massive number of possible canned answers with the new trick of mashing a bunch of them up so it looks like thought, but it gives you the words without knowing what the words mean. #ChatGPT #AI

       @BarrenPlanet That's a really good point.        @stux Sadly I'm too late and not registered on the mstdn.social instance, but a hard block would have been my vote. Meta as a company has given us plenty of evidence as to what they think about doing things any way other than theirs.  Connecting on the expectation that they will have some kind of communal epiphany is, in my opinion, naive at best and analogous to the folks that are still over on Twitter hoping that things will change.
