@bortzmeyer That's what the M4 macros are for. Did you read the entire post?

@bortzmeyer I didn't think I needed to belabor the fact that I'm using M4 macros mixed in with my raw HTML. That's what the makefile is for.

@ParadeGrotesqueTrue, but you can identify the absence of systemd as a virtue of every BSD, and of any true GNU/Linux distribution that hasn't sold out and become #Poetterix instead, like #Slackware. :)@feld

@ParadeGrotesque The reasoning does seem to eventually come back to systemd's absence, as is the case for my position:Why use BSD or Slackware?1. They work. Why do they work?1. The developers know WTF they're doing.2. No systemd.:cat:@feld

@feld Not familiar with SMF (but it probably doesn't stand for "sick motherfucker" in this context) but I get what you mean regarding launchd in OSX.systemd is an overdesigned, overengineered solution in search of a problem.@ParadeGrotesque

@mwlucas Use "Computer Modern". Grimoires should be as readable as possible because if you mangle a pronunciation or squiggle a line that should be straight when drawing a summoning circle, you're gonna have a bad time.

@feoh Nothing wrong with that. But I think you can tell from my own answer that I don't love any particular programming language.I just like not being broke.

@publius @feoh This one time back in 2015 I got drunk and wrote a rant on Medium (yes, I know) called "Programmer Passion Considered Harmful". It's still available via #WaybackMachine.https://web.archive.org/web/20150316170604/https://medium.com/on-coding/programmer-passion-considered-harmful-5c5d4e3a9b28

@Elizafox I've been cancelled since kindergarten. We just didn't call it "cancelling". We called it "shunning" people, or "ostracism", or "leaving people out".It hurt a lot at first, but I learned to harden my heart. Nowadays, I LOL when somebody tells me I'm cancelled.Conversely, I have no compunctions about blocking people for no reason at all. I know it won't encourage them to change. It just allows me to pretend they're somebody else's problem. :)

@GuerillaOntologist I'll concede that audio/video is often easier to make because people are more likely to be comfortable talking in front of a mic/camera than they are sitting down and a keyboard and writing, but I'm talking about accessibility on the consumption side.As a sighted and highly literate person, I can read plain text quickly and easily. If I were blind but hearing, I could get the text fed through a screen reader. If I were blind and deaf, there are Braille displays.

Apparently there are gamers smart enough to run #Linux but dumb enough to buy games published by #EA, and they're getting banned en masse from #BattlefieldV because the anticheat software only seems to recognize Windows.I know I should be sympathetic, but I just can't. This is what people get for buying EA games. Dumb fucks.https://forums.lutris.net/t/ea-banning-dxvk-on-battlefield-v/7810

@malin Ethical, schmethical. Didn't anybody ever tell you that if there isn't a native Linux client you shouldn't buy the game? WINE isn't good enough. #NoTuxNoBucks

I just found this little site for people who might appreciate visual explanations of how #unix #shell commands work.https://www.explainshell.com/Cons:1. Uses Ubuntu man pages.2. You have to know the command already if it isn't one of the examples.3. Depends on JavaScript
