@lamp @stux @ThatMichaelM @realcaseyrollins then you get into the murky world of IP reputation management, I guess :(

@stux out of idle curiosity, do you know how much of that is server<->server, and how much server<->client?

@calculsoberic @nuala I still end up RTFSing far too often. I am grateful that that's actually so often an option these days, though.

@lauren if nothing else, I can't help thinking that if you actually wanted to know what something was, firing that much high explosive at it may not be the way to go, however fond you might be of really difficult jigsaw puzzles...

@rollinson @revk yeah, I think there's migraine aura similar to epilepsy aura, a sort of weird feeling that comes on before hand.

"Products related to items in your shipment" - the shipment was alcohol free lager. The related items are: dog treats, vodka, printer toner, and rubber gloves.PAAAARTY TIME!

@alrs @aphyr I don't hate journald, but it would perhaps be nice to be able to turn it off. I know it can forward to a syslog, and you can switch off persistent journals, but it must still add a bit of overhead. Maybe an alternative stub implementation that just did a really dumb "forward to syslog" and nothing else?

@eisfunke @Cykelero one of the few pleasures of getting old is watching people significantly younger than me being weirded out by this sort of thing for the first time :)

@SuperDicq @delroth as someone who finds terser code more readable *up to a point*, I'm happy with single ternary ops - but this example is just silly :(

@stux I spent a fair bit of time in my early career working in the same room as various "servers." There was something to be said for being able to tell what they were doing by the sound different disk access patterns made :)

@sarahdal I think that would end up being "aA1!" + something random generated by my password manager with its current settings. Also, that only lists 4 classes anyway? God I hate that sort of thing.

@nina_kali_nina the last few years there's finally been some recognition of the grim 'masculinization' shift in the field from the 70s onwards - I've seen various articles every now and then in some mainstream publications. Now we just need things to actually change back again!

@tomjennings @kissane in science and nature stuff often "nucleates" anyway. Focusing on changing the stuff one can "reach" is probably much more productive than lofty big-picture theorizing :)
