@grammargirl On top of all that, I just can't stand Elon. It's to the point that for the past half hour I've been thinking about how to enumerate the ways in this response within the confines of a toot and I need less of that kind of mindset in my life.

I kind of wish that I had joined a large instance and migrated servers a few times before self hosting, like there is shared experience that I missed since I don't really have a local timeline. Though I will say that the @lisamelton boost experience is by far better than any algorithmic timeline and is a must follow, especially if you are self hosting

@stux yeah, to get kids interested in ANYTHING is huge, it sparks a lifelong passion and meaning that not everyone is lucky enough to find

I don't know if this is fair, but whenever I see a link that uses an AI image, my first thought is the rest of the content was probably made with the same level of effort. Maybe I'm just getting grumpy as I get older, but images that have nothing to do with an article annoy me.

Ok, lowered the DO droplet to 1 vcpu from 2 vcpu, which brings the droplet bill down from $18/mo to $12/mo. Hopefully it does ok?Arguably the time I spent on this is worth more than the $6, but I probably would have wasted the time anyway.

I finally played #Firewatch and wow. What an experience that could really only be told through the medium of a video game.

I'm not familiar with the contribution process so I could be completely wrong and please correct me if I am.That said, I have this knee jerk reaction to every time I see people being needlessly personal and vindictive when demanding a feature on Mastodon. Provide feedback, sure, but the hate and the name calling? This shit is being built by underpaid, overworked people. And it's open source so anyone can contribute. You can fork if they won't implement your change. A rare instance where you can have a meaningful impact on the software you use! I can guarantee you calling a person childish, lazy, or selfish will not get you the feature you want.Am I wrong for feeling this way? It makes me feel like contributing and building open source not worth it because the vocal minority is so spiteful.

It is wild to me that the easiest way to check which version of Salesforce you're on, the billion dollar company enterprise product, is by refreshing and page and checking which cartoon you get. But that only gives you which "seasonal" release it is, not the actual API version. The next easiest way is to generate a WSDL and the API version is in the commented section in the generated XML file.

I'm replaying Final Fantasy X and meeting all the characters that I spent hours with as a teen. For example, this is Auron, the oldest member of the group, considered an old legend from long ago, offering wisdom and experience at the ancient age of... 35.The fact that this game came out more than two decades ago (2001!!) made me feel old enough, only to find out that the in game grandpa is younger than me.

This has got to be me not understanding React, but omg React is so obtuse. Every file being named "index.tsx" and "component.tsx" is a terrible idea
