@kemonine As long as it didn't come out of your fan, you're probably OK.

@NekoAmpsAlso, if you see bikes/scooters blocking sidewalks, particularly by the ADA ramps, please kindly move them if it is safe to do so. This helps everyone live more harmoniously. Throwing them in a tree or down an embankment, not so much.

“And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.”"And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.”"And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."~Kitty O'Meara

If you're in VA, the Lt. Gov is proposing a 120 day suspension of recurring payments (rent, utilities, etc.). There's a petition to urge the General Assembly to adopt the proposal here: http://chng.it/ngqXnRPVxf#covid19 #coronavirus #virginia #politics

"The murder of George Floyd and the subsequent protest inspired many of us to get active. We started donating money to organizations we had never heard of and shared posts on social media. But I heard my creative friends, many of whom were cash strapped due to the pandemic, looking for ways to contribute our skills. This is how you do it.If you’re a creative, register and commit to donating your time, skill, and efforts, to the movement. We all have a role to play, and contributing through sweat equity can be your’s.Join us. Bring friends."https://www.creativesforblacklives.com/#creators #creatives #blacklivesmatter

"The Hologram is a lightweight, peer-to-peer feminist health platform that any group of four people can practice to take revolutionary care of one another. In person or online, three people focus on the holistic wellbeing of a fourth, the hologram, helping her understand and challenge the way racial capitalism, hetero-patriarchy and other systems of power act on her body, mind and social self.In learning to receive help and care, the hologram is a teacher to those who care for her. She helps them to become holograms, each with a team of three caregivers and the network spirals out of control, going viral (but in a good way)."https://roarmag.org/essays/the-hologram-vagabonds-interview/#healthcare #feminism

"Because all the day’s computers, including Galaksija, ran their programs on cassette, Regasek thought Modli might broadcast programs over the airwaves as audio during his show. The idea was that listeners could tape the programs off their receivers as they were broadcast, then load them into their personal machines. An overnight sensation, this DJing practice quickly became a staple on Modli’s show. In the ensuing months, Ventilator 202 broadcast hundreds of computer programs. During the hour, Modli would announce when the segment was approaching, signaling to his listeners that it was time for them to fetch their equipment, cue up a tape, and get ready to hit record. Fans began to write programs with the expressed intention of mailing them into the station and broadcasting them during the segment."https://tribunemag.co.uk/2020/07/make-your-own-self-managed-socialist-microcomputer#tech #democracy #socialism #computing #radio #preinternet

Shareable has a good list of books if you're looking for something new to read. A lot of these are about rebuilding the commons and/or regaining power from corporate interests.Think I'm going to get _Mending Life_ with the gift card I won from a local-ish bookstore.https://www.shareable.net/16-books-to-read-this-summer/#books #shareable #commons

"By combining the latest practice and theory, we have the potential to develop a functional health system that serves the community and values healthcare workers. Yet this requires a reconstructive and radically democratic approach. A just healthcare system is one without managers or leaders, organized at the grassroots level by patients, their families, care workers and the communities that we serve. This sort of system is based on the ideals of communalism, through which autonomous communities cooperate through a confederation to self-govern all aspects of shared daily lives."https://roarmag.org/essays/social-ecology-communalist-healthcare/#socialecology #municipalism #healthcare #nurses #doctors #COVID19 #communalism

@barrett I'm a bigfoot fan, but also realize it probably isn't rational. I have a master's in science, so some of the evidence is obviously spurious, but some of it seems pretty compelling too. 🤷

@barrett I'd hate to think bigfoot is a sexual predator, but I also can't blame the victim. Seems like a cultural misunderstanding could have occured though?

@doot My grandfather got bit on the hands by a goose and was unable to do surgery for awhile. (He was a doctor back when a chicken was a valid form of payment for a house call. I don't think someone tried to pay with said goose, but if so, I hope he asked for a different form of payment?)
