One of the advisors is DeRay McKesson, who has been a compelling voice on Twitter and “Black Twitter” ever since I first came upon him in the Ferguson riots. I like the fact that there is such a keen social activist on the advisory board long before Spill even goes live. When I saw DeRay was involved, I reserved my name.

@brosandprose I have a sneaky feeling I'm a few years older than you. Being Canadian, I was pretty "whatever" about feminism as a teen and then when I was 16 we had the L'ecole Polytechnique massacre where women were murdered just because they had the audacity to be engineers.That was 34 years ago, and I am so fucking exhausted. I can't fathom that we women have ostensibly LOST rights since then.

@stux @wonkothesane I’m Canadian and I live about a 15-minute walk to a US-bound ferry and I haven’t been in the States in a decade. (Spent 5 years in that time as a nomad and visited 25 countries.)I just find it hard to want to visit, even if Washington is a “nice state,” because it’s just too easy for gun violence to erupt.

TFW you hit send on the job application for the job you want more than any job you've sought before.A wonderful person helped me on my resume -- job's with government; they work there already.In creating that resume, I now feel like a bad-ass. It's so easy to have a freelancing career and feel like it's all nebulous and inconsequential, but once it's all down there on paper...Holy shit, man, they'd be lucky to have someone of my ilk. I hope they see that now, with my shiny new application.
