Saw someone pointing out the crazy downward mobility of the children of successful black immigrants, particularly men -- never really looked into it, but definitely seems like a civ-nat win: i.e. win for those who see "culture" over the "economic" or "race" as the primary determinant of social outcomes. of course, this is if "economic" is taken in the crude "has material advantages" sense.

Not only is Israel's intel failure surprising, but the slow & initially tepid response is too - Gotta be due to concern regarding possible Hezbollah involvement or other state actors, no?Also, Israel is going to stomp Hamas out - they might've been caught off guard, but this isn't a remotely level playing field. Disbarring other actors getting involved in some crazy unexpected way - not talking about Hezbollah. They'd get stomped in the end too.

The failure of Israel to see this coming &/or have preparations in place for such an event is definitely surprising - but there are far too many ppl jumping to insane conspiratorial conclusions. It just might be that the states w/the strongest militaries / security apparatuses aren't as powerful or all-seeing as ppl seem to think.

I see no ending wherein Israel doesn't level Gaza -- perhaps it can be deferred if Israel takes a long time to push Hamas back, or if other actors (e.g. Hezbollah) get involved, but that's it.

if you're Hezbollah or Syria, part of your thinking has to be that this is a PR boon for Israel & will strengthen their Western support, meaning that they're likely going to be allowed (or even aided) to pursue more aggressive security goals or territorial ambitions than before: e.g. back in 2015 when Netanyahu had asked Obama to annex the remainder of Golan, the answer would've been a resounding yes if the request had been made in the wake of something like thisin my opinion, whether they get involved or not, Israel & its Western allies will pursue foreign policy that leads to the undoing (or at least, severe undermining) of the Hezbollah & Syria, whether in the short or long term.That being said, an outright attack on Israel now runs the greater risk of just outright annihilation in the short run.

American support for Israel will make support for Ukraine look minuscule in the event of Hezbollah & Syria's (forced) entry -- Besides the close ties between the two, there's no nuclear power that one is threatening direct escalation with in this instance.I doubt there'd be American boots on the ground, because I don't think it'd be necessary -- ample American air and naval support would be more than enough
