@tomjennings I've used the originals that these copy and they're quite nice. Swapping out the nozzles is a pita on ours but the one lasted 10 years of almost daily usage before dying and another is at about 15.

@futurebird @sewblue reciprocal of holding time. I think there have been some halfway serious proposals to institute this.

@futurebird missed "ball nut" which granted isn't a nut in the way these all are but is also hilarious to say.

There's a coyote on the couch in the backyard. I got this pic from inside when it had just settled down. Now it's sound asleep. I guess this answers why there have been so many little animal bits in the back yard lately. I vote for this because neighbors are having rat problems.

@tomjennings At my previous house there was one particularly relaxed coyote who would go on walks with us. I'd put Lily on a leash and we'd head out and he'd walk along about two meters off to the side beside us for about a mile, through several turns. Never within touching distance, but absolutely looking for some sort of company.

I just took this little hooligan out for a 7km walk and she is snoring so loudly, so maybe I'll have a peaceful afternoon.

@MLE_online there is a long-standing machinist tradition that different colors of hair have different thicknesses, so sometimes people would specify a machining width of specifically a red hair as being the finest.

@tomjennings @MLE_online That's exactly what I was thinking about, yeah. It even shows up in old machine shop books.

@tomjennings I think either Heinlein or George Smith used RPH in one of their stories.

@tomjennings you CAN beat traffic if you're on a bike. When I'm downtown I can usually move at about 2x the rate of car traffic.

@futurebird this is 36 * 6 boots or four or just two? I'm trying to imagine how many they wear. Maybe it depends on how formal the event is?

@futurebird I've cnc'd stamps in aluminum, so I'm probably going to choose some cool looking kanji like 薬 and mill that.As that's not really in line with the question, second choice would probably be a wee trilobite fossil.

I had to go up to the mountain house to cut up a ten meter tall tree that fell on the house during windstorms. House is mostly uninjured, just very scratched and with some gutters removed. It's a pretty great place to do some outdoor work though. That's the highest mountain in Colorado in the middle.
