@foone make sure your SD Card actually has the advertised capacity too. It’s very common for counterfeit ones to report X capacity on the firmware while having actually X/2, and it causes this exact issue

Love how the Bulbapedia page on the Gen 3 save file format is incorrect in the most insidious and mysterious ways. Like how it says a save slot is 0xE000 bytes long, but it's actually 0xF000

@phoenix My first experience with Linux was scavenging forums in a different language to find out why my laptop only had video output with `nomodeset`.Naturally, my second experience was fixing the audio 😅 Nowadays people install any random distro and most of the time it Just Works. It really is impressive.

@phoenix I feel like that's the optimal way for me as well but I've never managed to force myself to do it. It always feels like too much effort in the moment lol

@phoenix I've had my credit card locked up in a safe for the past 6 months to stop me from buying the GPD Win Mini

I've had this motorcycle for less than 24 hours and I already want to reverse engineer its Bluetooth protocol so I don't have to use their shitty app

When I found out about the Stallman Report I knew it was going to be bad. But now that I’m reading it I wasn’t even remotely prepared to how bad it actually is.Huge thank you to the people who wrote it. I hate that it’s always the most vulnerable people who have to make pieces like this. I hope this changes in the future.

One thing that keeps popping up in my head as I read it is my incessant need to empathize, as if Stallman is just being misunderstood due to expressing his ideas in the wrong combination of words. This might well have been the case if it were one or two posts, but it’s apparently behavior that has been repeated for literal decades at this point. It’s horrible

@pixel Wow. They chose to build arguably the most complex piece of software we have, and thought that announcing they're also building something else would go over well? 💀

I encourage you to think about every major software vulnerability that’s happened in the past decade and count how many of them were caused by front end developers

Say you're playing a video game that saves replays. Does anyone care if the format is human-readable? A binary format would take less disk space, but you give up that aspect. For context, the average replay file for a single is around 1MB.#gamedev

@aeva All that information will probably be in `/sys/class/power_supply`, but I'm not entirely sure of the specifics. If you're on your laptop now you can just look around in that directory for the info you want.

@aeva Oh, hmm. I'm not sure why yours is in BAT1 instead of BAT0, but apparently what `psutil` does is just enumerate the directory and use the first `BAT\d` directory. Janky as hell lol https://github.com/giampaolo/psutil/commit/95b8e4ba7c2f90d6239266890212feb4031c6bed
