Trying that focus trick for tall art. If you have the crop setting on, this should show the thumbnail crop focused around the teddy bear.

FikavagnOne reason I hate to caption my art is because English isn't my first language. I actually don't have a clue how to translate some of the subject matters into English. So I really hope you don't mind if some of these are in Swedish or empty.

Here's the custom cover I did for Free League's Things From The Flood role playing game that was based on my second book with the same name. The game, like the book, takes place during the 90s and the kids from Tales From The Loop are now teenagers and everything is just a little bit more dark and serious. In the marketing of the game, Free League said this about the new mechanics: "Things are different - now you can die!" - also not a terrible quote to summarize my teenage neuroses.

I'm putting together a bandcamp release of the Ripple Dot Zero soundtrack. Next year it's ten years since we released the game, and I remember we already then felt that we missed the peak flash game era. Our previous flash game, Metro Siberia came out in 2007, which to me feels approximately like two thousand years ago.

Fellow art mastodons. What are your thoughts on wacom mobilestudio alternatives? I have an old wacom mobilestudio that is literally held together with duct tape and I'm thinking of getting a new one. I've always been pretty happy with my wacom products, but my biggest gripes with the portable devices has always been noise and heat.

Thanks for all the replies so far! I should add: It must be able to run normal desktop Photoshop, ideally on windows. I have an ipad pro and procreate, great for sketching but there's just no way I can do any actual work stuff or big image rendering on it. Also, a huge part of my workflow is photography-> raw photo editing and subsequent photobashing - so SD card reader is almost a must!

@AleF2050 I'm not quite sure I understand the question in context with the above post.

@AleF2050 Well, first I thought it was in reply to my post about the Ripple Dot Zero post, where I said I really got to practice fundamentals when doing all the pixel art for that game. But the truth is more layered I guess - I started painting traditionally as a kid and kind of had to learn it by trial and error with gouache and watercolors. Another really formative experience was transitioning to digital and hanging out on the conceptart.org forums in the mid 00s.

@AleF2050 I don't at all think traditional is necessary when learning art. I did it because that was what was available to me as a kid in the 90s. Had I been born in 2004 I'm pretty sure I would be all digital. Fundamentals is good but also not necessary to learn formally - I didn't. To me it has always been important to remember that improvement should be a side effect of free and joyful creative exploration, not the other way around.

Thanks for all the great advices on wacom alternatives. There doesn't seem to be any one device that checks all the boxes. I am really hesitant to buy new things when I have old things that still draws breath. I saw a clip once of somebody returning their mobilestudio for a screen flicker and I was like - "what, I've lived with that for years!".Another reason I live with half broken gadgets is that I hate customer support, so I keep grinding until I see black smoke. Stupid, really.

Leaving twitter isn't easy, but the reason for me wanting to do so happened long before musk. As someone who has struggled with ocd anxiety my whole life, the non stop deluge of ai-art, nfts and fascists in my daily experience was just raw sewage for my mental hygiene. However - I think it is important to remember how important twitter has been for large groups of people and I think this article captures something important: https://www.garbageday.email/p/one-giant-slow-motion-fail-whale

Also I think it's worth adding that being in a position where I can say no to twitter for reasons of mental health is a huge privilege and has very little to do with my own hard work. I grew up white, middleclass and male, in one of the richest and safest countries in the world, with free education and free health-care. As someone who's able to live independently off of my art I think it is important to remember how much structural help I've had since birth.
