@backpackandsnorkel Playa Pilar on Cayo Guillermo, Cuba. Special mention to Puerto Morelos, Mexico, especially when the sargassum isn't a problem.

@backpackandsnorkel We're heading for #NewCaledonia, #Fiji and #Tonga in mid-April for a whirlwind tour (unfortunately; I wish we had longer). Do you have any recommendations for must see/must do attractions in those locations?TIA and thanks for sharing your posts!#Travel #travelling

@memere Depending on connectivity, we plan on at least a daily Toot, and periodic reports on silveradventures.blog when it makes sense and when we have the time. I hope you stay tuned! #travel #travelling #SouthPacific

@backpackandsnorkel We were in Manta and Montecristi 6 or so years ago. Manta is a bustling tuna fishing port and it was interesting to see boats unload at the pier. Some boats have their own helicopters for fish spotting! While the area was certainly worth the visit, it wasn't the cleanest place we had been.We sponsor a family in Portoviejo through World Vision and we always thought we'd like to go back for a visit. Perhaps someday... #Ecuador #travel

@backpackandsnorkel Yes, we were there in late 2017. We didn't see a lot of quake damage there, oddly enough. We did see a fair bit of damage in Pisco, Peru. The Manta area has beautiful beaches and apparently the area to the north of the city is a prime parasailing/hang gliding spot. I can't provide any personal opinion on that, however! #travel #Equador

@backpackandsnorkel It was the only one we visited, unfortunately. I think Crucita (just north up the coast from Manta) may be the better beach and "tourist" town. We looked at Crucita a being a good winter snowbird destination a few years ago, but we didn't make it back there. My only concern about Peru at the moment is the political unrest. I haven't heard much about that lately though. #travel

@backpackandsnorkel I had a look through some photos of that trip and this is the best I can find from Manta with the beach. I've also added a photo of one of the tuna boats with the spotting helicopter on the roof. It is certainly a working port, but the southern part of the city looks like a modern beachside city.

@backpackandsnorkel @benfinch That is an excellent piece. Still a lot to be wary of for those #travelling to Peru. Lima is nuts at the best of times. It took us the best part of 3 hours to get from downtown to the port on a weeknight with nothing special going on. I can't imagine what it would be like with mass protests, police action and route closures. I'll do my best to stay up to date. Thanks Ben for your Toot!

Going through some older #travel photos (thanks to @backpackandsnorkel ) and I realized how much we like boats. Boats of all shapes and sizes, but especially pilot boats or tug boats. It seems everywhere we've been on the ocean in our #travels, the camera lens has found boats and ships of all types. So a few more here, from Manta (Ecuador), Lima (Peru), Ha Long Bay (Viet Nam), and Ponta Delgada (Azores). If you're nautically-minded, I hope you enjoy them.

@backpackandsnorkel We'll be in that area in mid-July on a Miata #RoadTrip. We've been through Burlington a number of times and it's a favourite stop of ours. We'll definitely give it a look. #travel
