Its crazy to think, i have been on fedi for 3 years now and forgotten what its like to build the social graph. I literally just opened this account, make one post and already have an interaction from someone somewhere. I am doing due diligence and considering a move over here at the moment. But it would be interesting to try rebuilding my social graph from zero again just to see how different it would be.

Should i actually attempt to wire my house for 10 gig ethernet, which i will likely never use, or just wire it for 10 gig wifi which will require 2 routers as the frequency keeps increasing. I figure with wifi i can get away with running a lot fewer cables.

Oh, how nice the electric bill is going to be now that i dont have to run the air conditioner for 8 hours a day to keep the place below 80 degrees inside.

Holy hell, that lends some prospective. I viewed mastodon.technology as a large instance with 24k users. Yet when i did the calculation its like 0.5% of mastodon's user base.

Yes i use crypto and yes i will sometimes post about crypto. However, because i know the community is generally against crypto i will put it behind a cw. If the fact that i like and use crypto bothers you that much, the unfollow button isnt hard to find.

My #Monero full node is almost fully synced. When they say to use an SSD they mean it. It has taken forever on my 7200RPM desktop drive.

@aaronpettman the media has claimed crypto was dead thousands of times since people started using it. This is same story, different cast. People are using crypto like they used banks and that is where the problem is. When people eventually learn that possession is ten tenths of the law and hold their own keys the media will have to find a new boogyman. Sure, it sucks people lost money. However, people need to take it upon themselves to do some background reading on what the heck they are getting into too. Crypto was meant to be a "currency" and #Bitcoin at least is a failed attempt. Something like #monero may succeed though.
