@cle i don't want to sound grim, but everyone should be a #climate activist to die well. Western societies refuse to acknowledge life is finite, and therefore lead miserable pointless lives. Once you think about the meaning of #life itself, there is no other way than living aligned with one's own values. Most people here pretend they have none. Until they are taken away from them. Good on you for not wasting precious time! ✊🏽

@EZLorenzImagery @timsmalley +1 on asking where it is. There are many hornbeams like this in Hatfield forest in England, that’s where I first saw them. A couple in Putney Heath as well.

It seems there's an acceleration of people working in #tech speaking out or resigning over lack of serious #ethics work while developing #AI (#Hinton). As we're swimming in Newspeak, talking of #climatechange when it is armageddon #climatebreakdown, I find it difficult to remain sane while all the energy is spent trying to control people, ultimately to get marginal points (a bigger car, a bigger pool, a girl with bigger..) when the stakes are survival (of the species, incl. those with pools). We're being hijacked by less than 3000 psychopaths (#billionaires) & no one does anything about it. Someone give me hope!

#GretaThunberg travelled to the UK today to protest against the exploitation of the #Rosebank #oil field, off the coast of #Scotland. Rosebank is almost 3 times the size of #Cambo - the #oilfield that people coming together have successfully stopped in 2021. The #UK #parliament has deferred debating the licensing of the #oilrig to after recess, Sept 4th. 🧵 2/2: #RussellBrand veered to the US #altright when he lives in Henley, UK. Why such a rebrand, especially with a past affiliated to the Left (Trews etc..). The best explanation is opportunism, just like #BorisJohnson suddenly became a brexiteer when weeks earlier he'd vehemently defended the EU. And while #JoeRogan might have showed him how there was money to be had, I think #Brand watching #MeToo saw an opportunity to prop his immunity behind #conspiracy, as #Trump successful has (so far).
