@sayomgwtf @mforester @bartholin I too remember this joyous moment. My conclusion was that his pockets were deceptively small on the outside to their true capacity.

@divVerent would “gens Hispania (n) as the culture you were re struggling with work?” A steal from Virgil :)(Also: I think Harris has something Classical in mind when she describes Trump as “an unserious man (eg conspiracy theories, unhinged declamation).” She’s fundamentally asserting that the mors maiorum value of severitas non adest).

@futurebird So true. My big labor and delivery discovery was how powerfully a white noise generator can change the experience. When we left after c section post op it was the last thing we unplugged and it turned our little nest into the alienating experience of beeps and bloops modern hospital care. https://stevengharms.com/posts/2024-10-18-fathers-l-and-d-survival-kit/

@vermaden I very much enjoyed this. It’s there an up-to-date resource covering boot environments at boot time? With 15’s release, it’s going to be in demand. Also for would-be coverts, it’s a great thing to show off. I know you had a great post on this, but it seems out of date now (?). I got two environments working, but in still not sure I did it right / grokked the algorithm.#bsd

@vermaden typical solutions involve mounting zfs datasets and chroot and there doesn’t seem to be a single blessed process. Frankly, I’m surprised a most-preferred process isn’t documented in the handbook.

So I've been enamored of #Next and its retro-cosplay implementation at NEXTSPACE. But it would only build on Linux.I have a developer release proof of concept working for FreeBSD. Maybe it works for you?https://github.com/sgharms/nextspace/blob/developer-release-1/Installer/FreeBSD/README.md

@futurebird a powerful conceptual tool that I have after working in Boot Camp and in professional training is this: your code has billions of configurations, all of them except one are incorrect. Therefore you’re going to spend the majority of your time with not working code. When it does work, that is the exception. Therefore, your goal will be to learn how to gather information and diagnose the nature of the wrongness so that you can get it to the one working state this blunts the Instagram effect.
