@BuddiesOfBudgie v10.6.2 should be coming soon. All bug fixes, one of which fixes a rather major problem with non-vendored applets that's been around for *literal years*. Coming soon to your local #linux distribution! #opensource #linuxdesktop

@kev Would have recommended Budgie over MATE (not biased), but looks excellent! Hope he comes to love Linux too :D

@killyourfm I'm working on the Budgie Desktop @BuddiesOfBudgie, and maintaining packages for #archlinux as well! Plus a bit of dabbling in personal open-source projects, though my involvement in the Linux desktop has mostly superseded those efforts.

I spent some time yesterday putting together install instructions to get #budgiedesktop on #freebsd, now that it's been packaged. Those instructions should be live on the @BuddiesOfBudgie docs site soon.Edit: They're live! https://docs.buddiesofbudgie.org/user/getting-budgie

As a step towards Budgie-on-Wayland, I've been working on a wlroots-based compositor that serves as a way to become familiar with the Wayland and wlroots protocols. This will not be used for Budgie 10, but lessons learned from it will go towards making Budgie 10's future Wayland compositor the best it can be.Check it out here: https://gitlab.com/serebit/flyawayKeep an eye out for progress logs!

Flyaway is based on tinywl, a minimal wlroots compositor located within the wlroots source tree. As of last night, I've added support for maximizing and fullscreening windows, and a cursor change when moving windows. I still don't quite understand the global coordinate space, so multi-output (multi-monitor) absolutely does not work as it should.

@karolherbst Republican politicians are acting like cartoon villains, and Democrat politicians are sitting in the corner, content with maintaining the status quo. I'm just tired.

MARYLAND HAS BEEN DECLARED A TRANS SANCTUARY STATE> Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed an executive order June 6th declaring the state a sanctuary state for trans people fleeing other states. The order requires the state to protect all transgender individuals who are seeking gender-affirming care from other states. It prohibits the use of any resources in enforcing subpoenas targeting these individuals and their healthcare providers from outside Maryland.https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/maryland-governor-declares-maryland:maryland:

Wayland is cool. XWayland kinda sucks, but that's not Wayland's fault. Best of a bad situation.

@killyourfm Agreed! I've been meaning to check out how @kde handles multi-monitor panels, especially with hotplugging monitors. It's always the little things.
