I have to make a presentation on Linux to a club of undergrads (from different disciplines, but with relative similar technology interests) to show what it is all about and some of the advantages of using terminal tools. I already planned on showing the commodity of having a package manager, grep, file management (touch, mv, cp and tar) and some pipes. Do you guys have any other suggestions on terminal tools that are useful/fun & accessible to a general audience?

Hi everyone!I am a computational linguist that loves Emacs and anything Linux related. Just finished installing ElementaryOS Juno to give it a go and it looks great.

Since I saw posts on old hardware... I have no idea when this little guy was bought, earliest reviews are from 2009, but I've had it for about 2 years before it served a company for about 5 years. Thanks to linux it runs perfectly for daily use. I can browse, write blog posts, scripts and even play some low end games. It also has a SSD. It weights just 1kg and it's always my first choice for short trips.

Still wondering if anyone is onto a fediverse open source version of disquis or whatever you spell it. I have no web dev skills at all (my blog makes it pretty clear) but I would love to contribute or donate to a project like that.

I'm trying out pidgin for XMPP for the first time after years of removing it automatically on new installs, and I got to admit that it seems pretty nice! I am going to try and use it for a month or so.
