@malteengeler Agreed. #GDPR is only "groundbreaking" as the first privacy law to create public awareness of what *can* be done for #privacy and #DataPrivacy at the government level. Much like The Affordable Care Act, it should be seen as a step in the right direction, not the end goal for the issue.The problem is that the #OvertonWindow has shifted so far and the world gone to such shit that even many on the #Left are accepting diluted soaps stopgaps instead of real solutions.

@dave I watch shows with #subtitles because the volume control on almost everything is SO. BAD. I'd rather have the volume too low to hear dialogue than have neighbors 3 streets over hear the transition music.

#Google is increasing the speed of their #enshittification of even their #OpenSource projects like #Chrome with #ManifestV3 and #WEI and #Android stopping development for core apps like #Phone and #Messages.#FOSS projects should stop relying on them for their codebases. I'd love to see @Vivaldi fork #Firefox and @calyxos base their code on a #mobile #Linux #distro and help break up the current #monopoly.Google can't be relied on for any codebase.#WebEnvironmentIntegrity

That said, the major players in the #FOSS arena need to get their shit together on the basics. @mozilla is no angel and have had their share of controversies over the past few years, ranging from worker #layoffs to superfluous projects that drained resources without providing value to anyone, to performative #privacy with default #Firefox, to not even having proper app sandboxing for #security on #Android.For alternatives to be adopted, they have to be at least as good as the popular options

#Shopping for #eBikes is NOT an easy process.I'm trying to stay #CarFree , but a 30 minute walk to the grocery store isn't a fun hike, especially when we're running low on heavy essentials.I know that, in the long-run, maintenance will be cheaper than a #car, but there are so few #CargoBike options cheaper than a used vehicle, and that's depressing.Any advice from someone who's gone through the process before?#Bicycle #cycling

What I'm looking for if anyone's interested:- Available in #Germany - At or under 4000 EUR- A large basket or tub for groceries (and eventually kids)- 10+ mile range- Bosch motor- Removable battery to charge in our apartment while the bike is left downstairs- Disk brakes- As low-maintenance as possible with a bikeI'll keep everyone updated as I continue searching.

@malteengeler @beuc@eupolicy.sociallAs soon as I see an account, even for an organization or individual that I like, peddle other sites or become inactive, I unfollow.Sure, it can be argued that having a higher follower count on #Mastodon even after leaving shows the reach they *could* have if they posted on there, but for me personally, I'd rather show those that choose to remain here that names mean nothing and quality of content is the key to reach. Those that use this as a stepping stone to another platform have already made up their minds.That's also why it's so important to follow and interact with government, nonprofit, and expert accounts to not only show your appreciation for the high-quality content but to show that algorithms and profit motivations aren't necessary or constructive for a rewarding online social experience.

@stux This exact same thing happened to my wife's PlayStation on Tuesday. The services were down, and even offline games were blocked from being played, because the console couldn't check whether or not the license was granted to play said game.
