@rbreich the implicit assumption in the former case seems to be that justice systems could be suborned to "attack" political rivals. If that's the concern, fix *that* rather than carving out exclusions that the justice system cannot touch!

@killyourfm perhaps not an answer you're expecting - energized and ready-to-go.HOWEVER. This is only because of the context that I check my inbox exactly once, at the beginning of the day, and keep it closed thereafter. So "checking email" is, to me, synonymous with "taking time to decide how I am going to structure the rest of my day".

@bagder I'd be fascinated to hear more thoughts on the comparison. In my (limited!) experience, wget's functionality is a strict subset of curl's. What's something wget can do well that curl cannot?

@simon good for you!I completely agree - "LLMs/AIs are good for absolutely nothing" is even more lazy and ignorant a position than "they can do anything and everything!". While it's certainly true that they're currently being mis- and over-applied, there are plenty of valuable use-cases.

@Aviva_Gary this is the first time that a social media post of mine has gone viral-enough to be (implicitly) accused of being fake. Quite a compliment - thank you! (Not that it's technically my work, but YKWIM)(https://x.com/sfmnemonic/status/1504687870006620163?s=20)

@stux technically, yes - since autocorrect/typing-prompts which adapt to your personal idiom qualify, and there are probably genuinely helpful system-level things like dynamically-adapting network-connectivity code. But "no" to the question in the sense that you probably intended it - large-scale or intrusive user-facing apps.

@MicroSFF I have extremely pleasant memories of a Discworld Convention when I was 8 or so, and meeting the great man himself. Hope you had/are-having a wonderful time!GNU Terry Pratchett.

@emill1984 @stfn https://symbol.fediverse.info/ suggests a) it's too complex to be used as a symbol, and b) it's only available as an image, not typography
