@astro @swithinbank The entire @astrodotbuild team rallied around this wild idea for a...docs theme? From @erika and @bholmesdev ensuring assets and content lived in harmony, @bluwy & @tonysull digging deep for feature/perf perfection and Fred's project championing: a team effort. We didn't just launch a docs theme. We lauched a TRANSLATED docs theme with built-in languages! Our community translators made sure our i18n story was solid, and you can choose your language(s) and GO!/2

@astro @swithinbank @erika @bholmesdev @bluwy @tonysull We also had some amazing community contributions and input. Fun fact: The name Starlight was originally proposed by @kevinzunigacuel! 🌟And, no one could ever say enough about @yanthomasdev and his contribution to any project he works on. Nothing gets merged until Yan has approved the a11y and i18n infrastructure... and removed all my superflous commas./3

@astro @swithinbank @erika @bholmesdev @bluwy @tonysull @yanthomasdev Starlight truly *shines* because of @doodlemarks exceptional design and project management... and hiswillingness to dive into this build-in-public idea of ours. Mark led the project with grace, and jorts, all while having a pretty big *light* shone upon him!/4

@astro @swithinbank @erika @bholmesdev @bluwy @tonysull @yanthomasdev @doodlemarks And... how am I supposed to describe @swithinbank s role in all this? Relentless commitment to his principles of empathy, inclusivity, and sustainability. Code you can read, customize, and maintain. Care and thought in the truest, purest sense of the words.Starlight is for everyone, and was made by everyone. This is a startrail I'm happy to have been on for the ride!Today, you all shine./5

So if you're wondering, "How is *Sarah*, of all people, one of the most prolific @astro Discord support repliers?" πŸ˜… Never underestimate the extent to which you can *be helpful*, even if you aren't the most super-l33t technical person.I tutored math for almost 20yrs. People are just naturally *nervous* and *tentative* while learning, and just a friendly, confident "You got this!" (or, often, "You can't screw this up!") does wonders. So, jump in your fave OSS support forum and help! πŸ™Œ

General positivity aside: I do also want to say, though, that I'm pretty happy with my actual advice: there *are* more reasons than reusability to embrace component-based design. And, refactoring-as-pain-mitigation is a great strategy, too.Working on the docs helps me confidently give good Astro advice. But, also "living in this house" ( πŸ˜… ) and applying that unavoidable influence to Astro code design patterns in general are all part and parcel of the support you get when you build #WithAstro.

Next week is @astro v3.0 Launch Week! πŸ₯³ For v2.0, our community translators prepared the docs landing page banner linking to our upgrade guide in 6 languages on launch.Astro 3.0 will launch with the entire upgrade guide itself AND our star feature (View Transitions) docs in at least 4 languages!(And don't even get me started about how many languages Starlight *ships* with: native, *human* UI translations out-of-the-box.)When community building, don't forget your translators! πŸ’œ 🌐 πŸš€

I keep refreshing the @viteconf website hoping to see talk titles added to the recently-revealed speakers list. Can't wait to see what everyone will be sharing!Me? I'll be challenging the very notion that "writing good docs" has to be about writing at all!So, not a "writer" yourself? No problem! You can still craft good docs for your software project or feature!Get your free ticket: https://viteconf.org/23/speaker/sarah11918#ViteConf #ViteConf23

It's almost a shame my talk is already recorded and submitted, bc today I needed instructions that were in fact well-written BUT...were:- in a pdf (so, no text to show up in site search results)- not on the page I expected (but OTHER guides WERE there. So, thought must be right place & if not there, must not exist)- an inconspicuous text link vs similar guides with full-graphic cards for their linksWhen I say, "Yes, you can make your docs way better without doing ANY writing!" . . . πŸ˜…

I know there were valid tech reasons for @astro to move to @vite, but I'm personally most happy about the excuse to join forces with such a(nother) wonderful community!I hope you've got your (free!) ticket for ViteConf (online!), because it is shaping up to be the web dev event of the year! So many frameworks represented in the session talks, streamed for 24 hours straight for our global community!(You might see a little more of me than you bargained for, but don't hold it against them.)

I just realized that @grammargirl might know the answer to a question that has plagued me for years!"agree vs concur" -- I "heard"somewhere long ago that to concur is to arrive at or accept the same conclusion/agree with a conclusion either despite not being fully onboard with the reason/logic or arguments that led to it, or getting there for diff reasons entirely. So, it lets you "disagree" on some principle while also, ultimately "agreeing", I guess? Is there any basis or truth to this?

@astro won the GitHub universe Audience Choice Award last week, for> a project that has helped them create an impactIt sure *feels* like WE create an impact, by all the comments I read from ppl who feel our docs, dx, tooling, tutorial, community and entire thoughtfully-crafted and developed project enables and empowers both newer devs and those just "too old for this shit" alike. But, that people feel like THEY are creating THEIR own impact WITH Astro? That's joy on a whole n'other level.

Something the "just let AI draft your docs" crowd doesn't seem to get:It's harder to turn "bad docs" into "good docs" than it is to write good docs from scratch.Even putting aside LLMs are trained to (re)produce the "average" (and, how great are "average" docs out there?), your "bad docs" anchor you. You are primed to "fix" the odd word in place, but you now have to *actively work* to "envision" better. You didn't trust yourself (were too lazy) to write. You thought editing would be easier?
