Good news for #php people on #nixos! Just now, NixOS has landed PHP 8.2.0 on both unstable channels and on the new 22.11 release 🎉This is also just one day after the upstream release. It's very nice to see that we managed to get it out so fast, even to the new stable that was released about a week ago.

@killyourfm I (sadly) missed out on FOSDEM this year, I've been many times before and I do regret not going there.However, I wanted to ask for your view since you were there.My impression of the talks I've watched and the traffic on Fedi is that both Fedi and Matrix seems to have grown a lot and have become common on FOSDEM?Do you share this impression? I'm not sure if you have a reference point though since I don't know if you've been there before.

@killyourfm I remember one FOSDEM where I attended the Matrix talk where they first introduced Matrix as a protocol... :DThat was some while ago... and it took many years before I started using it on a regular basis. It kinda required Freenode going weird and lots of channels moving to Matrix.That's very cool to hear about the FOSDEM hashtag and promoting to use it on Fedi 🙂

@xerz Yeah… my opinion is that Linux has the best filesystems of all the major operating systems (Maybe #FreeBSD has an edge here with ZFS… I want #Linux, #Microsoft and #Apple has nothing of value.). Both in kernel and out of tree (looking at you #ZFS and #bcachefs). Even with that in mind… I tend to think that the filesystem situation in Linux is terrible.I really don't trust ext4/xfs for anything of value, no CoW, no snapshots, and so on.I don't trust #btrfs and really want ZFS…

@selea Longhorn is great! I have some experience with Longhorn and it kinda "feels" magic to begin with.What it mostly does is storing filesystem images in `/var/lib/longhorn` and automatically replicate them around to have enough replicas.

@selea I use it in production for a not very small website here in Sweden... however that doesn't mean that I'm exactly aware of exactly how the mounts are performed other than "it works", and "the backups and snapshots seems to work as well".

#Train #day On a #SJAB #SJ3000 train. They aren't really new anymore, however, it's my first time riding one of them. They are really nice.Lots of space. Easy to board with big luggage.The wifi seems to work.Going to Stockholm for the #nixos meetup tomorrow.

@BrodieOnLinux I kinda went to sway in anger, that's not the full story though.The full story is that I used EXWM (Emacs X11 Window Manager) for several years.Then I got fed up on some of the oddities and went to i3 because it was something I knew, however I was also tired of X11 (because of experiences in EXWM) so I took my i3 config and went to sway 🙂 @marcan

@gaige Are you saying that train services are bad in Norway? Because I would like to know. I've read that there's really nice train routes in Norway. For example Oslo-Trondheim or Oslo-Bergen. @foxhkron
