@WTL @rolle @alastor8472 @catzilla I've never used the bird to have meaningful conversations. The real strength of it imho was and still is the real-time updates about what's going on in the world. Earthquakes, covid-19 monitoring, golden globes awards, everything was relayed and conveyed through that platform.

@stux well it depends on the age. Young children get easily injured when playing or climbing things. Starting from 8 y/o you can let them play alone outside, but you still need to check frequently on them in case something happens. And this includes regular fights among children or inappropriate language. Until they're ready for a smartphone, you need to be close. As a parent I don't wish my boys to get a device before middle school

@stux @rbreich They surely started with a wealthy family, but it's also true that their family didn't have have billions in wealth.So it's comparable to someone starting off in a poor family and climbing the social ladder up to upper middle class status.

We went to a local event on #kpop with the kids a couple of weeks ago and we won the best selfie contest 🎉🥳!There wasn't much competition, otherwise we wouldn't have won, but I'm still thrilled to announce this news to the kids.Prize:1️⃣ A book on #Blackpink2️⃣ 10 packs of ramyon3️⃣ A poster (still not sure about which k-pop group, a lot of posters given that day as prize were of #taehyung #v of #BTS)

@ErikUden fun story. We stopped at a gas station in The Netherlands while coming home from our Danish vacation last year and I was asked for translation help by a German truck driver. He couldn't use the automatic coffee machine.With my limited German I was able to translate kleine, große and Milch Kaffee!And I realized that I still understand German quite well, despite not being exposed to it since years 😉

@GiffordJames @ptoothfish ok, but I had a similar experience when Ubuntu at some point decided to look like #Windows and I had to change to #Linux Mint Xfce to find a simple UI for a boomer-minded person like me.It doesn't only happen in the Microsoft world.

@xaetacore @ptoothfish @GiffordJames I probably didn't explain myself correctly. About 20 years ago Ubuntu took the decision to look like the Windows of that time. I was already a #Linux user back then and that's when I decided to switch to Mint. I've been happy ever since. That's the beauty of Linux distros. There's one for every taste!
