@futurebird I'm a coffee drinker so just trying to guess here. Is it possible that if you add the additional water while the tea is steeping you actually achieve a higher extraction? And therefore you're actually watering it down less? Or maybe if you're adding hot water you're "rebrewing" the remaining "fines" which may give a more bitter taste? Please update us with your findings and please post sample sizes of your blind taste test.

@futurebird @kern A lot of these problems go away if you stop checking your email. If it's important they'll tell you on slack to check your email.

@futurebird @contextfree personally I'm not sure a multi polar world is the solution especially because it would be so unstable. I think we need stronger international institutions. The UN security council needs reform for example.

@futurebird When I suspect text is AI-generated, it's often due to subtle inconsistencies or patterns that don't quite match human writing styles. Here are some common giveaways:1. Overly formal or stilted language2. Repetitive or overly complex sentence structures3. Lack of contractions or colloquialisms4. Inconsistent tone or emotional expression5. Overuse of buzzwords or trendy phrases6. Unnatural or forced transitions between ideas7. Absence of personal anecdotes or experiences8. Overly precise or formulaic languageThese traits can indicate that the text was generated by a machine rather than a human.

@futurebird @adef187 @teslatakedown.co.uk I can't say that I've experienced this very often, but AI generated whales really freak me out. Vertical tail fins. Tall dorsal fins. Very unsettling, here's an example. I'm sure you want to see 😂

@futurebird . I think most jokes her explained after something like this, "Why aren't you laughing? You didn't get it. Let me explain."

@futurebird I think this is wrong. If they sell you a box of crackers YOU have to pay the government 50% if the price on top of paying the grocery store. I guess you could try to haggle at the checkout so your tax burden isn't so high? This is a really stupid thing you're doing to yourself. Why would anyone do this. 😉

@futurebird Just a warning to anyone who clicked the video after reading "huge news", but before reading "moth community", there's a good chance you're going to be lost and bored.

@linuxnews @jessikatme What's up with the attitude. They attached a screenshot. How much effort do you expect them to put in to fix your website?

@linuxnews @jessikatme I agree, but then you ask a follow up. It's not clear what information would even be relevant to troubleshoot that error from an end users perspective. I've gotten lots of bug reports that say something like "the website isn't working", which is really annoying because it's not even enough information to ask a follow-up.

@Nonilex My first thought was, wait until a Democratic president issues an executive order banning assault rifles. Republicans will regret this. Then I thought, I'm sure the supreme Court will just reverse whatever precedence they want even if it's their own.

@paco Maybe this is semantics but Meta AI appears to be able to lie.

@glc @paco If an llm can't lie, then it seems true by only a technical definition. I can ask Meta ai basic questions about geography and get correct answers reliably. And I can ask it to lie about basic geography and I can reliably get incorrect answers.

@ralfmaximus @glc @paco If you didn't know the implementation of a specific model would there be any way to determine if it was capable of telling a lie?

@futurebird @emilymbender This is similar to asking a random person how a brain works because they have a brain.

@futurebird Short answer, no I don't really think about the text the LLM was trained on. It doesn't seem easy to draw a direct line back to the source materials.

@linuxlads I had to go back to episode one after listening to #150. There was a funny little book end. In episode one the lads talked about Windows 10 being the last Windows version ever. And in 150 they talk about Windows 10 being EOL. 😂
