       @neauoire I love the new icons on here! Can I make a suggestion?

       @neauoire It's super minor, I'll do that

       I've been thinking a lot recently about a sense of responsibility that comes with designing type. It's a field where the customer frequently cannot tell the quality of the work above a certain level, so as designers it's important to ensure that quality stays high. If enough designers start half-baking things because they can get away with it (or because they don't know better), it's a race to the bottom.I feel like this must also be true of other fields. Does anyone have another example?

       @Lutrinus it is my firm belief that (at least in my case) the monochrome thing is a symptom of minimalism. I’m not averse to colour, if it’s strictly necessary, but it almost never is.

       @neauoire I've been working on this thing recently (as a TTF, but could make a sprite sheet pretty quickly from it). 8x8 including diacritics, so functionally only 7px high.You're free to use it if you'd like, although I suspect it might not be the most practical design

       I couldn't find an 8x8 pixel font I liked for this tiny Pi display, so I made one.

       finally got annoyed enough by design software gradient editors to make my own.Left is mine, right is the same exact colour stops in Figma’s gradient tool.

       The bike store around the corner was throwing out some old stuff, so uh... guess I’m restoring a 2011-series VanMoof now.

       The more I think about software, the more I come to realise pretty much every development I actively enjoy working with is pre-2000...

       @neauoire oh, I don’t so much mean the process of development (I also didn’t start until mid-2010s at least). But in terms of technologies/formats, things like XML, PDF, lots of font-related stuff like SFNT and PostScript are all 90s or earlier.

       @neauoire I can’t think of an equivalent format or language (maybe with the exception of Markdown) post-y2k that I don’t end up thinking of as basically a necessary annoyance.

       @welt @neauoire Huh, I’m interested to know why that is. I use it fairly often (constantly if you consider HTML to be XML) — wouldn’t consider it a favourite, but I never mind having to write/read it

       I have a new website (and behind the scenes, a new static site builder). This edition is more of a memex than a portfolio. Still very WIPhttps://craze.co.uk/

       Plant-sitting for a friend over the summer — which today involved renting an electric cargo bike to haul the various plants across the city.One of the most fun vehicles I’ve ever used (driven? rode on?). And effectively a replacement for a huge chunk of potential car journeys

       @lanodan that’s great! They’re a Dutch company, but I guess there are enough French speakers here that it could be intentional?
