I wish there was a company like MongoDB atlas for PostgreSQL. I don't want to use Google Cloud or AWS for this, surely PostgreSQL has a cloud solution?

@dave its all good now, but I need to think about long term and how we can make sure that we have a primary server and a secondary server for our PostgreSQLI don't know if that is possible.

@csb @bumi this is the risk of self hosting and not having your seed keys. If people misplace things there nothing anyone can do. Sadly crypto is like your favourite wallet if you misplace your wallet on the train then good luck getting any money that was left in the wallet. People need to think about taking/withdrawing the crypto every few weeks to make sure they don’t lose any. @Vox @Darren @ericpp

@evoterra @james @dave @grueproof jumping in, this is interesting. 🧐 Should hosting companies not be updating the index like say in worse case a podcaster closes their account and moves to another provider. So no 301 redirect. Would it be beneficial for hosting companies to send a podping with the value delete?

@dave out of interest, you mentioned that your getting duplicate shows with same test file for example. Could you note scan and say oh title of podcast same, author same, file size of episode same, but this feed is newer so we delete the older feed with the same info or replace it?

@adam @samsethi @james so are we saying that Russia then has the right to take Ukraine - based on that logic. No country should take another country resources. China is watching very closely and this risks a regional escalation in other parts of the globe.

While am all for stopping ai slop, spam etc, I worry that this is also a form of censorship that people will say freedom of speech and freedom of expression. I don’t believe that you can believe in those two values and just ban hammer content that is someone’s creation even if it fits AI or Spam. Labelling it AI, Spam etc would be the better solution in my view and let the players deal with it. Maybe alert the hosting companies that their ranking score is based on these labels.

I know if we have spam on PodToo we would suspend and terminate the users account. That’s our policy, but for that to be enforced we would need to be alerted by someone or something, as we role out our AI tools next week. Part of the tools is an AI score based on a lot of information.It will automatically add a ai tag in the episode level that says how much of the episode is AI generated in percentage. Now what tag are we using - looking at GitHub today to see if one already exists. @dave

@dave I get what your saying, but it’s really up to the hosting companies to do better. They are the ones that allow free hosting with DAI in the first place. It’s their business that they are ruining. Triton and others will just block that hosting provider from getting DAI ads. It’s already being discussed internally at some SSP providers that I talk to.

@pauljrobinson I agree but advertisers will notice and stop spending and Triton will lose out and then the IAB will step in as they don’t want AI to kill the ad business. They literally just released papers / or a discussion on what rules IAB are setting for AI content. Am sure @james will cover it on PodNews weekly

@dave yeah and it’s one really tough thing to fight. We see loads of user-agents that don’t even exist. In one way I wish the W3 would ban user-agents being sent and only a fixed number of verified user-agents should be allowed. We are always fighting user-agent spam.
