@john @ct_bergstrom Short to mid term, I doubt this will happen. Their user security philosophy doesn’t mesh well at the moment.

@john @ct_bergstrom Hear ya.While a lot of their users call it a 'Twitter killer', part of me suspects that the goal is a tightly moderated, centralized, stand alone system for a very loyal set of users. Safety, comity, and 'control' might be more impt than network/ActivityPub integration.

@wogan @Noupside This reminds me of the challenge (impossibility?) of civil interactions during the Washington state presidential caucuses, and why we shifted to a primary system. The caucuses had become dominated by a small, loud minority. Things became very ugly if you disagreed with that section of the electorate. The shift to primaries was necessary in order for everyone to be heard.

@Teri_Kanefield @mmasnick @rrg There was an interesting thread re: content moderation by twitter.com/rahaeli. Without getting into the weeds, it maps to some of the things I've noticed since launch.A couple of threads below. NB: I'm avoiding the online fight because it quickly shifted into the unhelpful and personal. https://twitter.com/rahaeli/status/1628379969511366657https://twitter.com/aphotic_ink/status/1628500672466370561

@45xiatai @Teri_Kanefield It's not a good morning for SM platforms. So far, 3 of the 4 I use are having (uh) difficulties...!

@Teri_Kanefield Stating the obvious, this storm is going to be tough on roads and bridges. Don't know what county you're in, but there are some wild photos from San Luis Obispo county. https://twitter.com/slocountyoes/status/1634245286896738318https://twitter.com/SLOCountyPWD/status/1634223210127556608

@clive @maximum_mew @pluralistic If my memory is correct, the French lace industry is in serious need of Luddites. A few years ago I remember reading/discussing that it was getting extraordinarily difficult to fix, maintain, and use the looms due to lack of knowledgeable, experienced staff. They were starting apprenticeship programs, but they were behind the curve. Needless to say, I'm a Luddite fan!(There's a similar issue w/companies doing plissage. So much knowledge getting lost.)

@clive @maximum_mew @pluralistic I found a recent video that lightly touches on the topic, plus has some good info/scenes of the process and machines.
