@malwaretech I think Mastodon is attracting geeks. Tech geeks, biology geeks, Book of Common Prayer geeks, you name it. The specialized instances positively call for this. Maybe the giant instances like mastodon.social are a little less geeky.I told somebody on a different service, "Mastodon has a reputation for being pretty geeky. But so do I."

@grammargirl I love the ability in a real bookstore or library to be able to discover books I wasn't looking for that are nothing like the books I've chosen before. That's something you don't really get from Amazon and its like.
