@royal I hadn't seen that. It sounds quite drastic, but in a way, it doesn't surprise me. Six or seven years ago, when I was a professor, the engineering library removed some of the books to make room for a (really cool) makerspace, and if I remember correctly, they saw a huge increase in library use by students.

@royal One thing I really hate about digital library resources is how much less accessible they are to the general public. Many years ago, I used to be able to go to any public university library and easily look at books, magazines, microfiche, etc. Now, unless you have a student card, a lot of that seems inaccessible because you can't log in to the system.

@grammargirl I love the ability in a real bookstore or library to be able to discover books I wasn't looking for that are nothing like the books I've chosen before. That's something you don't really get from Amazon and its like.
