       I'm a freelance journalist, something of an autodidact, curious about everything and always up for an intelligent conversation. My main thing is political economy, but my interests are too broad to even try to list. I'm new here (apparently so are a lot of other people!) but already love it.        @stux I've always thought it funny (and not in a ha-ha way) so many people didn't realize the users are the commodity on those sites. Mastodon is such a breath of fresh air. And the people of SDF are doing an amazing job of catching up to the influx -- on a weekend, no less.It's all giving me so much hope. #community #civility #conversation

       Just checked into the birdsite to see what was going on. My goodness. It was like leaving a very pleasant coffeehouse and walking into a seedy dive bar full of sketchy drunks. (For the record, I happen to know quite a bit about seedy dive bars and sketchy drunks.)That platform has always had its problems, although for the most part they came with the territory.        The Abrams is too much of a stretch. I'm not sure even a NATO country could handle taking them and deploying them in three months.The Leopards are a different story. Send them.
