@sean interesting, but Friendica, Pixelfed and BookWyrm all seem to want to create new accounts (not looked at the others yet). You can then link back to your Mastodon account? Would be nice if you could sign in with the same account, but guess that's technically difficult.

re: my previous post about moving away from Etsy for selling photographs: https://functional.cafe/@robertpi/110559633033855249I'm very tempted to start working on my own independent platform, but I realize this is putting the horse before the cart. It's more important to find fellow photographers interested in selling there work though a coop.Any Europe based photographs interested in forming a coop for a new sales platform?#Photography #BuyIntoArt

Towards the end of last year, I set up a little online gallery at Etsy: http://defigogallery.comIt has worked particularly well and I find Etsy fees excessive so I plan to reboot and move somewhere else.I'm thinking of the following choices, any advice welcome:1) This artisans coop looks great, but is perhaps a little US focused and seems to be a long way of starting:https://artisans.coop2) Use an exiting service used by fellow fediverse artists, I've seen these website:https://pixels.com/https://fineartamerica.com/https://www.redbubble.com/https://www.pictorem.com/3) Look for a French / European artist / photographer's coop.4) Create my own European focused photographer's coop.I guess my ideal would be 3, but I've looked for such an association and can't seem to find anything suitable.I'm leaning towards 4, since I have the skills setup a new website and it could a fun way to meet other photographers. However, I know it will be very time consuming.Any thoughts / advice welcome!#BuyIntoArt

@simon I agree. I think the hype machine for LLMs and crypto is largely the same, but the underlying technology is very different.LLMs have a lot of issues, but the technology is interesting in a way crypto never really was.

This time I made the lens using 300 g/m2 black cardboard. By placing the cardboard on a magazine when making the hole, I managed to get a very small hole. I cleared the back of the whole with a craft knife.I discovered a pin on the extension tube was lifting the cardboard and creating light leakage, I fixed that by cutting a hole for a pin with a craft knife and taping it down.

Postscript: Why? In this age it's easy to take beautiful sharp images with modern equipment. As we drown in these kind of images, I've come to find images from yesteryear with their grain and other technical faults charming.Experimenting with home made lens for a digital camera is a compromise. You avoid the expense of using real film, yet still give yourself an interesting set of technical constrains, that will hopefully give you imperfect yet charming photos.

@tek I didn't believe that an Atari 2600 LEGO kit existed or if it did exist, that it would have only 2532 pieces, but I have fact checked both now.

Have a whole bunch of street art photos queued up on my phone but no time to upload them. I found this one so good, it skipped the queue.
