@clive There was a journal article I read a couple years ago where the authors reported on drivers' apparent lack of short term memory. In that case IIRC it was car on motorcycle trouble, but basically the car driver would see the motorcyclist ahead, within seconds forget that they were there, and then do something endangering the life of the motorcyclist. So that driver who you thought saw you and then almost killed you, it could be.

It was a late night of #InlineSkating #NYC but damn the weather was perfect. A solid 50k to Prospect Park and back. And oh hey, the 106th St deli cook was working at 3 a.m. so I finished with a tasty jalapeño-avocado burger.Of note:* The Manhattan access to the Queensboro Br bike lane is soooo much better than it used to be, but my god the "tunnel" at the start could be better lit.* Views from the Greenpoint shore get better and better.* Broadway in the 70s resurfacing almost done!

@futurebird As a recovering Idahoan who has known many a potato (one-A) farmer's lkid, I found this high-sterical.I didn't even notice the curious spellings at first. It was the graphic of a dude wasting his time in a very large field with a shovel that was weird. And then, wait, what? Potatoes grow above the ground, like tomatoes? Laughter ensued.

@futurebird I was one of those nerds a few decades ago who wore a pocket watch rather than a wrist watch. After one too many pocket watch disasters involving a watch chain and a door knob, I gave up on that and went watchless. For a lot of years,Been wearing an Apple Watch for the past year and a half, because I am old and watches do health things these days. I rarely check it to find out what the actual time might be.
