@selzero You assume too much, because I am. The whole system is based on pursuit of profit, & requires economic growth, which, in turn, requires population growth. This means never-ending expansion of demand for resources & energy on a finite planet, & production of waste & pollution, including GHG emissions. It also entails biodiversity loss. It's self-destructive, & will collapse, with enormous loss of human life, if we don't act now to prevent that. We need degrowth & ecosocialism.

@selzero No. You are an entrepreneur, & argued that no-one was against entrepreneurship & enterprise. I am. You claimed that "no reasonable person" would be against these things. On that account, I'm not a "reasonable person". We (quite obviously) differ. As an economist, I understand that profit is the reward of enterprise, just as rent is the reward of land, interest of capital, & wages of labour. These are the factors of production in a capitalist system.

@selzero "Shouldn't be allowed to"? If you make something with your own labour, & then sell it for more than the cost of making it, that's one thing, but if you employ others in the process of making those things, & sell them for more than the cost of making them, including the labour employed, that's another. And all the time, you're consuming more & more of the Earth's increasingly scarce resources, more energy, generating more pollution & GHG emissions.

@Nonilex I wouldn't be at all surprised if he did. The use of military force by the US to conquer the sovereign territory of another NATO country - Denmark - would be an abrogation of the North Atlantic Treaty, & would delight Vladimir Putin, but what does Trump care about that, since he doesn't care about NATO, & is a huge fan of Putin's?
