The out of touch WSJ strikes again. Yes, this is real.

@seldo I think you pasted the wrong link? That's an interesting bit about 80% effort.

It's going to be a pretty intense week between the holidays & the news cycles, so here's a quick timeline cleanse to start us off right.#photo #spring

@shoq I saw someone yesterday suggest that still being on Twitter was like selling your goods in a Nazi marketplace and… the level of arrogance and privilege involed in a statement like that is just mind boggling.

@exador23 @alcinoe @gbhnews From the corporate perspective, the lack of easily accessible reporting metrics is a big minus. You need to be able to show that the time put into a site is generating positive clicks, views, and reach. This isn't easy on the Fediverse right now.

@atomicpoet the majority of users do not care what happens under the hood, they just want things to work.

@atomicpoet bear in mind that Jack does not run the show over at Bluesky. The actual Bluesky team has not confirmed his comment.

@atomicpoet Yes, he is on the board, but he doesn’t drive the roadmap. Jay and her team do. I would want one of them to confirm Jack’s comment before taking it seriously.

So here's what makes me nervous about the Fediverse: Over the weekend, two admins had a disagreement & defederated their servers. They then resolved their differences and refederated. Only problem is, all follows across those two servers were broken and people now need to recreate them manually. And depending on whether or not they were following the drama, they may not even know why it happened. This is, in a word, bad. It puts a burden on users for something that was out of their control.

Friends, with everything going on at Twitter, I understand wanting to log out and never return, but given Twitter's new "must log in every 30 days or lose your account" policy, doing so could mean losing your account to an impersonator.Safer choice: Use a free service to automate a post once or twice a month. Why? Even if you never want to go back, that protects you from account takeover. It also keeps your friends & followers from potentially being scammed or fed false info.

I'm uncomfortable with some of the rhetoric I've been seeing online lately. Too many people seem to think it's OK to gleefully wish death or destruction on someone when they're rich. This doesn't sit well with me. We should be better than that.
