@stux if they spend a large amount of time apologizing for the Nazi/terf instance and saying I should unblock it, they get uncomfortably close to seeming like okay with Nazis. Or they just take up so much time they need to be muted.However, discussing blocks is fine, as is having two servers make their own choices for their users.For example events in two cities might share ban lists, and based on the report from the other event, agree to ban a mischief maker from both.

@seldo it's like a super confident, prejudiced, set in their ways, aunt on facebook.they can tell you convincing bullshitthey're at that level of intelligence, which is the bottom 1/3 of facebook posts - brain fully off, no critical thinking, just responding to prompts.

capitalism itself should mean that you try to undercut other competitors, ultimately reducing costs and opportunities for profit.owning an index fund of the whole market means the incentive you have is to extract profits, it doesn't matter which business does it.completely erasing the supposed benefit of a free market.

@jgarr @erlend @astro @0x0 RSS and other low compute things like indieweb / webmention are coolthere should definitely be very low interaction stuff that's simpler and easier to host.maintaining the interactions and privacy features would be the one difference, RSS clients already have curation/browsing/search,being able to authorize an RSS post to only some users...isn't necessarily something that static S3 hosts would do for cheap
