@fatboy I like that the article title says Google "accidentally" enabled the feature. Nah they definitely knew what they were doing. No Google or Amazon speakers in my house for this and many other reasons.

@mike man I loved Google+ when it first came out. Seemed like such a game changer at the time. Still very new to mastodon and fosstodon, but I love it too!

@kev Ive been considering virtualizing my pihole, but not because of performance issues. Mostly for the fun of trying to do a k8s cluster approach. Ive been running pihole directly on a Pi Zero W for over a year now with great performance though.

@kev having music controls, calendar notifications, maps, and messages all easily accessible on the watch is really fantastic. Less useful for me while working from home for the foreseeable future, but definitely a good investment. Even better when it doesn’t cost money.

@cooper I like bookstack. It’s made using laravel and has a simple but elegant look. Currently running it on my raspberry pi with a handful of other containers.

@kev in most cases it’s not possible because ads and videos live on the same domains. Some people have claimed success with some regex but it has always broken YouTube for me.

@kev Plenty of fun roads just waiting to be found. Ive managed to find some questionable routes the further I push into the mountains but that's part of the fun I suppose. I just picked up a KTM 790 Duke a month or two ago, and Ive got a ZX6R that needs a new engine. At some point I need to add a cruiser to my arsenal too.

@kev another fun keyboard shortcut that may be of use for keyboard management would be CMD + ~That will cycle through the open windows of the foreground application.

@mike I put in my 40 hours and honestly feel like that’s still too much of my time spent away from the people I love and the things that bring me joy. I can’t imagine living with the mentality that I need to give even more of my life to any job.

@kev at most I do a “here’s what I know and what I do” on the site, but my resume is usually customized to the job I’m applying for so it doesn’t make since to host it on my site. Definitely an odd choice for those who do.

@kev I’m curious, do you have iCloud Drive enabled on your MacBook? I wonder if there’s some combination of that, and the APFS data volumes that caused the full blown finder meltdown.

@kev ghost software is great and has an MIT license too. It’s a shame the CEO went out and made the whole team look bad here.

@mike definitely something that I will wait to see how people much smarter than me feel about it. But I wouldn’t trust any 3 letter agencies word when it comes to encryption.

@kev here’s to hoping these real estate entities get absolutely decimated. I’ve yet to hear about one that did anything good for the areas they operate in.

@mike just one week after the mandatory return to office my employer has stepped back to requiring masks when you leave your desk. But no execs want to consider that forcing everyone back still isn’t a good idea from a safety perspective. Let alone the fact that 90% of my team isn’t even in the same time zone. The return to office is such a pointless thing for so many office jobs.

I was today years old when I found out that you can host your own Firefox account server to synchronize your Firefox browser data without having to use a third party server. https://mozilla-services.readthedocs.io/en/latest/howtos/run-fxa.html#homelab
