Cleaning out my junk pile and I found this. It's a Pocket eDGe. It's a super old, dual-screen android device, but the second screen is eink. It's a weird device. Anyone want it? I doubt the battery works, and I can't find a charger for it, but it takes a 12v barrel jack.

Am I the only one that thinks the Mark Rober porch pirate Glitterbomb shit is kinda... fucked up?Like, I get the annoyance of having your packages stolen, it sucks when that happens.But at the very least, the optics of a rich, semi-famous engineer baiting and fucking with poor people desperate enough to steal packages is just gross to me.

@thegibson There's something so fun about these!My favorite genre of papers is data exfil from airgapped environments. One of my favorites involves modulating fan speed to create a low-throughput one-way datastream that can be captured on an audio recorder and reconstructed later.I think I saw a similar one that relied on inductor whine in backlit displays

Hiya, lazy web! Does anyone know any good personal privacy consultants? I have a client I have done some web stuff for who is fame-ish. I have given the typical personal cybersec advice; use a password manager, use 2fa wherever possible, etc.But I think she is looking for someone who can advise on how to make it harder for trolls to turn up personal details given what's already out there.Idk, like, online harassment resistance or w/e. Not sure if that's a defined discipline or not, but it sounds like it might be.

@amolith @alexandra yea! one is the user saying "give me a randomized playlist" and the other is "when a song ends or is skipped, choose the next song using some algorithm" where the algorithm can be either complex with lots of inputs to the weights given to each potential next song , or really simple.

Just learned that prior to the early 20th Century, children in the West weren't really "gendered" in that clothing and toys had one gender and that gender was "baby".That implies that at some point in the very recent past, people just decided it was super, super important to loudly advertise what their newborn's genitals looked like to the whole world.Seems like a mis-step if you ask me.
