@Dan_Ramos Ubuntu is the most used distro and it won't even prompt you on install that secure boot is on, it'll just install. Same with Debian, Mint, Fedora and plenty of others.Whether it's useful or not is another question. It helps protect the kernel from unsigned modules and the firmware but then you have the whole TPM issue. How many people buy a computer with Linux installed? System76 switch it off but support it on their systems. I think Dell switch it on by default now.

@LadyMont I've never understood the religious justification for genital mutilation of either sex. It's like saying God didn't create perfection and it seems rooted in the sacrificial.Clitoral, labial removal and sewing after mutilation is another level of hell. It seems to be exporting from the more rapey countries to the west along with the people and the rape.

@LadyMont They don't seem to mention the reason for all this complication. What could possibly have changed in France?

@Dan_Ramos I'll take your word on Dell.Distros would not provide kernels and bootloaders signed for secure boot if people didn't use them.

@caekislove This guy has two kids.I think the stats show that most molestation is in the home. The molesters probably say "that was weird" afterwards.

@YoungBlood I watched that. It had horrible CGI, it was badly plotted and the new songs were not good. Rachel Zegler was excellent though. She's highly talented.

@Dan_Ramos You might be right. Most linux PCs are sold as windows PCs and the user installs linux or a family member does. My estimate is largely based on that. Windows PCs always have secure boot on and linux installers don't insist you turn it off so I expect most people don't turn it offWe probably won't see because certificates are renewed and this has been known for a long time. It might cause a problem for computers that haven't been updated in a long time or where the fw isn't updated

@Dan_Ramos It's surprising how many discrete components there are on that board in comparison to a modern board.I suppose some components are etched into the board these days.

@polarity It uses up a core of my CPU ~94% and another core for the webkit process when the window is open. That's the only issue I've come across so far. I have a reasonably recent core i9 so that's surprising. Ticking over at 4-8% is the average for an effect plugin.Really nice GUI but the numbers in the knobs are hard to read because the color behind them varies. What it can do to the audio is great. I've been testing it with a bass to bring out the overtones and it can range from subtle up.

@Dan_Ramos It's bound to happen soon but it'll be a woman robocop and a trans terminator and they'll end up talking through their feelings about being at odds.

@cjd Your explanation of time from 100 years ago seems circular but I'm not sure I can phrase it better. It's fundamental under either model. The interesting thing about physics is the predictive value. Einstein predicted things that were later observed. So is his model closer to /reality/ than previous models? Maybe the universe updates it's rendering method based on perception of how it works. That guy is not a great presenter but he makes the most of his abilities.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykObAiS4ugg

@cjd Thanks for the explanation. I don't know enough to continue this directly but speaking in more general terms there are always underlying assumptions maybe in several tiers and models leave out variables or put a constant in place of a string of variables that's constant enough. In terms of observation this can also be flawed. We have a model which predicts things and so we try to find them.I don't know how well that translates to physics.

@polarity Oversampling works fine, only bumps CPU usage slightly. It was going from 83% to 88% of a core. I'm running at 96 KHz.Linear phase seemed to muffle the tone slightly on piano. I noticed a drop off before 5k and boost at 5k in linear phase with a top band starting at 5k in Bitwig's spectrum analyser.

@YoungBlood 20% of the country are now immigrants from countries with lower attainment in education and another almost 20% are descended from recent immigrants. Falling standards probably have the same reason as rising crime. It sounds like they've happened across a sensible policy by excluding certain factors from their statistics.
