@stux My only "issue" with it is the smooth gradient blends. Would've looked much better with a stairstepped gradient :p I know this wasn't the kind of dislike you were referring to tho xD

@MagicLike @vndmtrx @stux Keep in mind that your MIT license is incompatible with their GPL-3.0 license! You'll have to change yours to GPL-3.0 or any other GPL-family license ;)

@MagicLike @vndmtrx @stux Then it's all good. I just go with AGPL license myself, so I've become keenly aware of licensing lately :p

If you want to recommend someone join Matrix, here are some tips based on my experience. Most people don't understand what federation is and it's not essential for them to understand it to join Matrix. Don't explain it before they join, they're more likely to be confused and drop out before even trying and that's a fail.Basically, if it challenges them, you've likely already lost them. This means you should also not explain that it's E2EE unless you're talking to someone who already know what that means. Being E2EE benefits people but it's also kinda supposed to be an invisible protection. There are a lot of different Matrix clients and servers. This confuses newcomers who are used to centralised platforms with highly controlled environments. Don't give them multiple clients to pick from unless you're sharing a join link. Tell them which one to use based on their needs. Let them switch later. So what should you say? You should say that Matrix is a secure and private chatting app. That it respects your privacy by making it impossible for anyone but the people you talk to to read your messages. You should say that it works and feels similar to Discord, Slack, Teams, and TeamSpeak. Then you should send a direct link to your own profile that should look something like this:https://matrix.to/#/@reinacchan:matrix.orgThe goal is to get them to make an account in the first place. The biggest barrier is the barrier to entry. Once they're in, you can start explaining the more complex stuff, because then they have a point of reference. It's no longer completely unfamiliar.Don't over-explain it, under-explain it.#Matrix #Discord

Also, here's a tool for migrating Matrix instances. I haven't tried it myself yet tho, but it might be useful to anyone who joined at matrix.org and want to switch to another instancehttps://ems.element.io/tools/matrix-migration

@untsuki The Cult of Reina. Hmm, I like the ring of it. I mean, I am the queen, so. Maybe I will form a cult one day.

Why would anyone give MetaFacebook the benefit of the doubt? By allowing their trojan horse in, you'll end up in a situation where lots of people on your instance are following or being followed by people on new MetaFacebook platform. At that point it's much harder to defederate because now you'll piss of the people who wanted to follow folks there. But that's not all, you're also exposing your users to harm as MetaFacebook's whole business model is to deal in data. Even if they make their ActivityPub server open-source, there is literally no way of knowing for sure that that's the same version they have in production. They could very well be collecting tons of data on fedi users, many of which are marginalised and justifiably want to stay away from tracking.Oh, but even that's not all. By federating with them, you're also exposing anyone else you federate with to the same harm. When someone on you instance boosts something by someone on an instance that blocks MetaFacebook that can still get scraped by MetaFacebook. Sure, they'll get an incomplete picture, but that doesn't really help.By federating with them, you are contributing to harm, whether you'd like it or not.

I haven't looked into it too deeply, but I'm kinda liking what I'm seeing with the lit web-component framework.I find native web components to be a neat concept, but it's also kinda cumbersome and tedious to write like a lot of JS stuff is. Lit seems to improve upon that while retaining the major advantage of native web components, being framework-agnostic.

@pixel @steffo I mean, it doesn't really matter what's in the box. Battle passes are manipulative regardless.

Anyone with knowledge on washing machines and dryers who can help me figure out what I should know to make a good purchase?Firstly, are combined washing and drying a good idea or are there any significant downsides to it that I should be aware of?What should I look for with regard to longevity and repairability? What pricepoint should I aim for where you get good quality?Brands to avoid or brands that tend to make good stuff?:boosts_ok: boosts appreciated
