Sadly, Indian government doesn't recognize atheism. I wanted to be identified as one, but looks like that's not possible yet. There's only one instance where someone got "No caste, no religion" certificate from a local government official. I don't know how useful that will be.Constitution talks about freedom of religion, what about freedom of not following any religion?

@alexshendi I currently use something like the 2nd one from left. It runs on 2G network, the software in it can't be modified remotely neither by me nor by the manufacturer!

@SuperDicqIf I remember correctly, it really used to display clearly that it's a gnu/linux and free software system.I have installed Debian on people's computer whose hardware wouldn't support Trisquel (after explaining that they would lose their software freedom) thinking at least they would learn about software freedom and once they appreciate it buy better hardware. Now, it looks like I have to look for something else, maybe Devuan? It's being a gnu/linux system and free software system is prominently displayed on the front page of the website.@Suiseiseki

@reallylazybear Why are you abusing hashtags? Why do you think people who follow #FreeSoftware or #GNU hashtag would be interested in this?

Nowadays I see a lot of QR code thrown everywhere around me. ATM machine stalls to newspaper ads. Not to mention, almost all the stores have UPI ids displayed as QR codes. What I'm saying is, please also include the text of the QR code. Not all of us carry snooping devices. So, there's no way for us to scan it.I'd like to send the above message to the editor of my local newspaper. But I've tried many times before on different topics and perse always ignores me. đ¤ˇââī¸ #FreeSoftware #QRCodes

After my dead body has been used for scientific purposes, and organs donated, I'd prefer the rest of it to be naturally buried[1] instead of being cremated (which is the default setting right now, based on the religion I was born with).I wonder if this can be easily done in India, without making things difficult for my relatives.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_burial

Cremation feels so wrong. Like, you used earth's resources for decades and when you die, you make that inaccessible to other flora and fauna? What a dick move!

@Suiseiseki @SuperDicq @lain @kura @kaiaI think we should just call it Alpine. And then explain that it's a poor imitation of a GNU/Linux that doesn't contain GNU by default.

@SuiseisekiGNU haters will go to any length, just so they don't have to mention GNU.- Linux on server- Linux on desktop- Linux on mobile (but, not Android)- We are Linux distro (Literally, *everyone* distributing ~400 GNU software)

I've just updated the currency conversion rates for GNU Units. It's as simple as running the `units_cur` command (with root privileges). Now I won't have to search the internet how much X USD means in INR.Of course, Units also supports other useful conversions like Fahrenheit to Celsius, miles to km and pounds to kg.Very useful!#GNU #Units #FreeSoftware

I'm in a pickle! I have been giving mathematics tuition to this boy (say X) for 2 years now. His mother introduced herself as X's mother since the beginning. Sometimes, we talk to each other regarding X's studies, and during these conversations I refer to her as "you".In this situation it's common to call someone like her as "āĻĻāĻŋāĻĻāĻŋ (elder sister)" or "aunty". But, calling her "aunty" might be inappropriate as this will suggest she's much older than me, and it might offend her. Well, this leaves us with "āĻĻāĻŋāĻĻāĻŋ" as the safer option.Recently, I've decided to call person I barely know as <title> + <surname>. This is used in professional setting but to use it in non-professional setting is probably something frowned weird. So, I'd like to call her Ms./Mrs. <last name>, instead of āĻĻāĻŋāĻĻāĻŋ. But, since I've never called her anything, whatever I call her now, is bound to shock her! I don't know what to do! I think it's wrong to continue referring her as "you".Similar situation exist with parents of other students as well. Please someone help me.

I think, at this point of time, all fediverse software supports markdown, some even support LaTeX formatting. But, Mastodon still doesn't support any of that. I sadly observe that everyone around me posting per posts with bold, italics etc, while I can't.Mastodon feels like the gnome of fediverse software.#FreeSoftware #Fediverse #Mastodon
