@mike I’ve never been a fan of RMS as a person. That said, if you want to go around accusing someone of bad things, try doing it without being an ageist yourself.Also I didn’t have time to read it in detail, but your link to RMS quotes appears to be a litany of left-leaning geopolitical statements... hardly the proof of pedophilia hinted at. Maybe it’s in there, but a better reference is needed.

@pyre35 The other day I was watching a documentary on the days of the BBS and one of the interviewees talked about the flame wars. People will always have a tendency to be jerks if they are anonymous. I don’t know why. But maybe now that we are in the age of social-media-gone-wrong, we can start to formulate the manners against such instincts... you know, don’t eat with your mouth open, don’t call people Nazi’s online (unless they really are), etc...

I'm not proud of this, but I broke down and bought some Apple AirPods. This will be my 4th set of wireless ear buds. None seem to last more than a year, though I don't think I'm especially rough on them. Due to the pandemic, my last set didn't get a lot of use at all. There's no reason they shouldn't have lasted. So my hope is that Apple has paid more attention to quality than the others I've tried. *sigh*

@urusan I can't currently justify buying an EV right now because are cars are in pretty good shape and low mileage. We just don't drive that much.But our next car will probably be an EV. I'm thinking Tesla Model 3 or Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Something went horribly wrong with an Ubuntu update and my system wouldn’t boot. Rescue boot revealed the fs was good but nothing else worked. So I attempted to reinstall Ubuntu without formatting. That didn’t work.So I said screw it, might as well try another OS and popped in PopOS. Turns out it has a Refresh Install feature which doesn’t blow away /home and that worked like a charm.

@alrs I found this article which does a good job explaining WP. In or itself, it is not an "illegal weapon". Like every weapon, the determination of war crime is in how it is used.
