I am not sure what it is by looking at that picture.The place is Karapuzha Dam (so we can search about it or look at other pictures online) and it had a lot of adventure activities (like ziplining), so maybe that is for one of those activities.

Prav is just another XMPP client and service so people uncomfortable with sharing phone number can choose any other XMPP app and service2. We are in the process of registering a cooperative in India and funding will be through transparent user subscriptions. We are currently in beta.

@tuxicoman Quicksy is controlled by one developer, whereas Prav is controlled by a cooperative in India (under the process of registration), where we collectively prioritize the features and other decisions. A larger community behind the service also makes it sustainable. This gives more democratic control over the service. We also plan to charge users a subscription fee to register, whereas Quicksy is free of cost.

My parents use #Quicksy and #Prav to communicate with me on #XMPP for around 3 years now. Think of how significant that has been in terms of privacy.Before @praveen told me about Quicksy (and @prav was not a thing before 2022), I tried to onboard them to #Matrix and XMPP using Element and Conversations respectively. However, the on boarding was complicated for them (people are not used to remembering usernames and passwords anymore).

@organicmaps It's not true that the only alternative to GitHub is self hosting. There are #FreeSoftware options like Codeberg too. If convenience is that important, why don't just use Google Maps? Or use any other maps which work well in that area? Why do OpenStreetMappers put time daily to build OSM? I use OSM even if a region is not well mapped and add data myself too in those cases. Would I have done the same thing if I cared only about my convenience?
