@alexbuzzbee @urusan could also have different people use different subsets of codons, and then with enough modified people you get a good amount of herd immunity against all viruses

News of jekyll dying has prompted me to start writing my own static site generator in python. Should also make it easier to extend and customise, which was something I really struggled with when using jekyll. It's pretty minimal right now, but already can generate & host some html. Next up is markdown rendering.Planning on uploading it to github, but not yet.(apologies about lack of caption)

@urusan I feel like the original quote -- "the cloud is just someone else's computer" -- is more of a reminder that "the cloud" is still, in the end, physical hardware that someone needs to maintain and can be down/lose data/be hacked -- and not some magical thing that provides these services with perfect reliability or security.

A lot of people I know have gotten >100hz monitors, and they say they can never go back to using 60hz since they can now see the difference.I intend to stay on 60hz screens for as long as I can, just so I'm satisfied with lower refresh rate monitors.

@kev this is specific to me (uni student that was working over the summer), but I had something similar that got resolved by some subset of- changing from full time to part time- meeting other people for social events and whatnot (and as an extension: doing fun stuff outside of work)- getting a better and more consistent sleep schedule

So one of the recent #firefox updates decided to mess with my UI scaling, making the UI font really massive. Not the UI itself, nor browser page fonts, just the UI font is bigger.:(I've held onto firefox for so long, but I swear one of these days they're gonna do something and make me switch to chromium.

does #git have a "commit onto this other branch" feature? sometimes when I've checked out a commit halfway through a branch's history while bisecting some bug, i want to commit the fix to the branch (either normally, or --fixup)

@urusan it's also a spectrum of precision:with language you can have pretty much any amount of ambiguitymathematics requires formalism but still permits some degree of ambiguity due to it being read by peoplevalid programs are unambiguous in what they do (up to stuff like undefined behaviour i guess)

why do people keep writing bespoke configuration languages instead of using something like json or yaml or even lispoffenders include hyprland and rofi. also a lot of older programs like less, various bits of x11i will excuse ones which are lightweight sugar around a sequence of commands (e.g. sway, tmux), but mmm not nicethe point is to write software, not a parser

tldr: greenspun's tenth rule -- Any sufficiently complicated [...] program contains an ad hoc, informally-specified, bug-ridden, slow implementation of half of Common Lisp.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenspun's_tenth_rule
