       @rachel @louis That's scary. I recently upgraded from 10.10.7 to 10.11.0 (native install on MacOS), and while I had a hiccup - migration followed by dead web interface - a restart fixed that and my Jellyfin server has been humming along fine ever since.Hope this gets fixed soon.

       @futurebird I read the quotes in that article and I get the impression of a dude who has no consequences to fear if this venture bombs. Something or someone is there to provide him with a soft landing. He can afford to fail. He'll just move on to the next thing. That doesn't speak of intelligence to me, it just means he's got backing. What I would think of someone who wore such a device can be best summarised in a single word: sucker. Which is precisely the type the people marketing this device are targeting.

       @futurebird @kevingranade Why does this remind me of the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who?As an aside, those are probably some of the creepiest, scariest movie and TV monsters I am familiar with.

       @futurebird Here's what gets me. They always ask questions like "Why should an educator make over $100k/y?"And 'educator' can really be replaced with any profession or vocation as desired. Whatever point they're trying to make is gross, because it always sounds like certain professions or vocations don't 'deserve' to receive a decent, liveable income.But they never ask "Why should a CEO make tens of millions?" For some reason that's just accepted and par for the course.As far as I am concerned, an educator sets our children up for their future. We can't pay them enough to ensure we get passionate people who are good at it. And while we're at it, fund schools properly.

       @tomasino I have to occasionally use a website for a local squash competition. The fixtures page shows over 3000 blocked elements in Ublock Origin. The site is also broken in Firefox.

       @futurebird @louis Would #microdystopia be a more appropriate hashtag?

       @futurebird I don't mind IKEA but I agree the store is exhausting. What annoys me most about the store I go to is that there is no clear way out from the restaurant without going through half the market hall and the checkouts again. So shop first, eat second is a bit weird every time. I'm sure that way out exists but I can never logically find it when I'm there.

       @futurebird I would definitely care. When I acquired Australian citizenship, I was given a seedling of a domestic plant at the ceremony. I had the opposite of a green thumb but I wanted to try and maintain that plant. Unfortunately during some very stressful weeks I just... forgot to water it one time too many and it died. I ca easily get another seedling of the same plant type from the council nursery - and I will - but it won't be the plant I was given at my citizenship ceremony.

       @futurebird I don't hear my own accent when I speak - but I doubly hear it on recordings of myself.
