@micrackbiron @Gargron If you like Tusky, please, leave a positive review. Tusky is being targeted by trolls as well. Currently sitting at 3.8 rating. As you might guess, every negative review is the same. :)

@DC7IA Non-native English speaker, but here's a simple rule of thumb that you can use: turtoises spend most of their time on land, while turtles spend most of their time in water (but lay their eggs on land). Same animal family, slight distinctions in everything else (including continents in which they're found).

@stsp @nextcloud Please ping me on Monday if nobody offers you help before. I'll try to figure out a solution on my own instance and then send it to you.

@ConnyDuck That there's no feature to auto-expand CWs tucked away somewhere in the settings.Like, I understand why they're necessary. I use them as well when composing toots. But when consuming toots, they're mostly an annoyance that I have to deal with. Mastodon's web interface allows me to auto-expand them, but my favorite mobile client does not have that option. That's what makes me mildly annoyed.

@jojo If it brings you any comfort, I envy vegans. I totally understand why someone would want to go down that route, and I wish I had a strong enough will to become one.

@submana Pi-hole. Easiest on the resources, immediate benefit on all the devices on the same local network.

@gwmngilfen @submana Out of curiously, why separate devices instead of one more powerful one?I've used two Pis to their maximum before I switched to an Intel NUC. With 10 gigs of RAM, it hosts like 5 Pis worth of services.

I'm wondering how smart would it be to offer my GitLab server to Iranian devs getting blocked by GitHub.As far as I can tell, the EU doesn't have a gripe with Iran. My infrastructure is almost exclusively in the EU. I use Cloudflare as a DNS provider, but I'm just looking for an excuse to switch away to 1984.is.I'm currently donating my extra bandwidth to Tor, but this might be a more direct approach to help those getting fucked over by Trump. Thoughts?

@fediversespace I just wanna suggest this playlist as one of the resources: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJA_jUddXvY7v0VkYRbANnTnzkA_HMFtQThe name will be off-putting because it's rather... direct and their defense mechanism will kick in, but if they're able to stick through a video or two, it'll be effective.

@fediversespace The second one that comes to mind is ContraPoints, but that's kind of a double edged sword. I know she works wonders, but depending on how deep in the rabbit hole they are, the fact that she's trans might make them close the video immediately.

@fediversespace One more that I would highly recommend for consumption is Three Arrows, an actual German that makes comparisons between a nazi rise to power and today.Wouldn't recommend including him though. He already struggles quite a bit with the automated filters, so a few reports from trolls could definitely get his channel deleted... again.

@masu Since I'm from a B country after Belize (Bosnia & Herzegovina):An obvious choice would be a Nobel literature winner: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bridge_on_the_DrinaThe main character is a bridge. The book talks about what happened around it from mid-16th century to its destruction in WW1. However, if you aim to get to know the culture and not history, I have a better suggestion that I'm gonna share in the next reply.

@masu It's called Goodbye Sarajevo: https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/reviews/goodbye-sarajevo-by-atka-reid-hana-schofield-2284142.htmlKinda like Anne Frank's diary, it talks from the perspective of a teenager (and, to a minor extent, her YA sister) whose family struggled to survive throughout the Siege of Sarajevo (1992-1996). I may be overselling it a bit because it talks about a city that I've lived in for years, but I consider it one of my favorite books.(re-posted because I fucked up the years a bit)

@jacek Whatever you do, DO NOT decrypt your hard drive with the hope of re-encrypting it. I'm assuming you have an OEM version of Windows Home, in which Bitlocker is available. However, Bitlocker is a Windows Pro feature that gets locked immediately after decryption. My Windows install is insecure because I can't justify the Pro upgrade for that 1 time in months when I boot into Windows. Can't help you to solve your goal, but I can prevent you from an irreversible fuckup.

@mmu_man @Gargron Account creation generates a public/private key combo. Unless the new owner has access to the same server as the previous owner, impersonation should not be possible. This is a guess, but I believe that the other servers would refuse to talk to @enki (as an example) if lynnesbian.space expired and someone else created an identical account with a different public key.

@kaniini I believe that there were two forks already, one on the Google Play store (removed), and one on the F-Droid (either removed or renamed, I remember @ConnyDuck complaining about branding being nearly identical to Tusky). It's not as much about the inability to fork it as it is about the app stores actually enforcing their rules. Credit where credit's due and all that shit.

@kaniini @ConnyDuck I was thinking credits to the app stores, though I do see your confusion. I'm aware that my alias gives a wrong impression, but I have 0 desire to fork it. I'm happier than ever to use Tusky after the "block".
