@ajroach42 I had a late minidv sony handycam that could also shoot on memoryStick. If I'm not mistaken you can stick a microsd in there with an adapter. It doesn't really tick all of your boxes but it shoots 480p, has RCA out and feels like it might capture the essence of what you are looking for. And you get uncompressed footage on the cassette if you so wish.

@ajroach42 unfortunately I haven't got it any longer but it was the classic sony batteries that I think have become industry standards for led studio lighting etc. It looked very much like this.It also had a "night vision goggles" mode which is immensely fun if you are a teenager. Or if you feel like one :-P

@scottjenson IIRC on the latest gnome you should be able to just enable it from the settings. It still depends on the distro to have those packages installed I guess though.

@scottjenson I'm afraid I can't answer that question. I remember enabling the toggles and thinking "oh it's that easy" (IIRC on debian of some kind) but it's not a given that I hadn't installed a bunch of things earlier for whatever reason.

We like saying that a technology underpins the modern way of life. That without X we wouldn't have Y.My recent dabbling in fixing the old house and digging in wikipedia for "old" tech has revealed to me that most things we see and say "they didn't have X before Y" had a perfectly serviceable replacement made of something other than Y.

@mntmn not a potential buyer so my opinion might be worth zero, but I loved the original reform's acrylic cover and since this can be hung to a wall, maybe it makes even more sense here.

Time for a new construction thread!I bought a small apartment in the center of Athens and I'm going to renovate it.I will attempt to do everything I can myself. I'm not confident I can do everything but I'll try my best. I find this sort of work satisfying, low stress and something I hope I will be eventually proud of.Let's begin.
