@ky0ko alright, that's what I might do my Apple II emulator. I started the other way around and first implemented the 6502. I love the simplicity of its ISA. I use this program to test my work:https://github.com/Klaus2m5/6502_65C02_functional_tests

@ky0ko I must admit I haven't thought much about the rest of the system first wanted to get the CPU up and running. I am thinking of reading The Apple II Circuit Description by Winston D. Gayler

@ky0ko I was a little scared to set one up at first. But it's not too bad. Be sure your ISP is willing to open up port 25. And also, have a look at opensmtpd as an alternative to postfix.

@sir I like C++. It gives me the possibility to abstract without incurring a performance penalty at runtime. The same goes for Rust but I do after that it feels rather volatile.

@ky0ko I remember you tooting about a VIC-20 emulator a while ago. Where did you find the required technical information? It seems like a good system to get into emulation. I've got a working 6502 emulator, now I want to practice emulation generating a picture for an actual computer

@ky0ko I know the 68000 was used in "16 bit systems" but isn't the ISA 32 bit?

@ky0ko I hadn't expected Google's front page to render that well. Last time I tried surfing using IE on OS 9 was when I realized that TLS is killing vintage web browsing

@sir Congratulations. I was just thinking how flawlessly sway (rc5) works with my Mixed DPI setup. So a big thanks to you and all other contributors to both sway and wlroots!

Set up a matrix server this week. My wife and I use it for messaging. Also got federation working. Now to figure out what rooms to join

@tyil it isn’t according to the documentation. Although admittedly the name does very much suggest so. I assume it was originally. I haven’t tried it but I’d much prefer running software that’s packed by my OS rather than relying on npm-packages.

#introductions. Hello bsd.network! I have been using #OpenBSD on my personal servers since version 5.5 after running Linux for a long time. I enjoy using #BSD's because they are well crafted, documented, and are licensed under terms I actually understand.I'm a lecturer in computer science at a university of applied science where I teach a broad range of topics from programming to networking to artificial intelligence.

Since the last time I checked, synapse, the matrix home server, has become available in ports. If I can build the WhatsApp bridge for it as well I can move my entire infrastructure back to openbsd.Still a bit apprehensive about hosting my own mail server though (I did it for several years in the past). Don’t want my mails to be blocked by Big Mail for some undisclosed reason.

@tyil I wholeheartedly agree. There’s just this small risk of that one important mail not arriving. But maybe a proper DMARC policy can ensure I’m notified of such an event?

Now that I am self hosting my mail again I’m noticing an increase of spam in my native tongue reaching my mailbox. How do others fend off spam in less commonly spoken languages?I’ve now added a filter based on senderscore but I’m not sure how I feel about this opaque metric.

I thought I was smart in building a single workstation that does everything: stream my (legal) media, store my documents, and above all be a great development machine. However, for streaming I use Plex (requires FreeBSD or Linux), I like my documents to be on ZFS and I prefer OpenBSD as my daily driver... I might run the latter using in a VM, passing my GPU through to it...
