@benjojo Yeah, the last thing we need is AI serving hallucinated records that point to invalid, incorrect or malicious resources.Or, if they scrape IP addresses from movies, then we're gonna get some really malformed IP addresses πŸ˜‚

β€œβ€¦With respect to content that is already on the open web, the social contract of that content since the ’90s has been that it is fair use. Anyone can copy it, recreate with it, reproduce with it. That has been freeware, if you like. That’s been the understanding."What kind of fscked up take on "fair use" is that? Oh, because it's AI, so everything is thrown out the window?#AI #Copyright #Microsoft

Just to confirm, it can make full use of a 2.5 Gig link (the server has a 10 Gig link on a separate switch but the two switches are linked up at 10 Gig)

In the video, there is a 1 megawatt peak output solar panel array. For scale, that's only enough to run just 8 of the upcoming NVIDIA CPU/GPU racks that are sold for AI.Eight. Each rack has a power density of around 120 kilowatts.Fucking bananas what the waste of raw resources and the emissions required to not only generate that power, but also to build the servers, racks, power delivery systems, battery backups, cooling, etc.ServeTheHome: Servers and Data Centers Are Guzzling Power - Here is Whyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUvCpxad0Vs#Servers #Datacenter #Power #AI

The very first thing that came to mind when I saw this Bluetti battery charging cable is it was a forbidden battery to HDMI jumper cable. Something along the lines of a @NanoRaptor creation πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

This morning, I switched from the Fedora-provided Firefox package to the Flatpak version available via Flathub.Outside of some minor font rendering differences, it seems like the Flatpak version doesn't soak up quite as many CPU cycles (especially when idling). Another improvement, albeit not as much as I would have hoped, is less stuttering or freezing of video rendering while the audio stream plays regularly (happens with YouTube, Patreon and Nebula players, to name a few). I do notice a little bit of sluggish starts on the video rendering in the first 2-3 seconds, but it starts playing normally.1/x#Firefox #Linux #Flatpak

Getting my existing Firefox profile to load in the Flatpak version was a little bit more finicky than many of the forum posts lead you to believe... at least, that was my experience on Fedora.Even though I copied over my ~/.mozilla/firefox directory into ~/.var/app/org.mozilla.firefox/.mozilla, I still had to modify the profiles.ini file to set General.StartWithLastProfile to 0 in order to get the Profile chooser prompt and select the existing profile. Without doing that, it would always kick off a new profile.2/x#Firefox #Linux #Flatpak

In order to get my custom GTK 3.0 and 4.0 CSS to work consistently with GTK-based Flatpak apps, I ran the following commands:flatpak -u override --filesystem=xdg-config/gtk-3.0flatpak -u override --filesystem=xdg-config/gtk-4.0I also copied over the gtk.css and settings.ini under ~/.config/gtk-3.0 and ~/.config/gtk-4.0 to the respective directories under ~/.var/app/org.mozilla.firefox/config just to be safe.I still need to update my Zsh startup scripts to add /var/lib/flatpak/exports/bin to my PATH environment variable and aliases for Firefox and other Flatpak apps.#Firefox #Linux #Flatpak

@CursedSilicon @ncommander Beaverton is where I'm at. I really, really need to take a train ride up to Seattle one of these days. I've been meaning to, but time and money haven't been on my side.

@ncommander @CursedSilicon The drive down from Beaverton/Hillsboro to Hwy 30 is really nice, either via CP or Germantown. I used to drive all around there when I had a nice (not-so-little) coupe just to take in the twists, turns and the beautiful trees.
