so i heard you wanted a filesystem that is copy on write, in-tree (so not zfs), does not eat your data (so not btrfs) and is not maintained by a certain person (so not bcachefs)?i present you, ocfs2, or oracle's cluster file system version 2you say that it's for shared network disks in clusters? here i put it as a root filesystem, on a core 2 duo thinkpad, running off a single usb stick on usb 2.0

@ncopa @ariadne i still don't really trust this kind of effort to be sustainable even if upstream does accept the patchesi've touched a lot of the systemd codebase and its reliance of idiosyncrasies and quirks of glibc pretty much means no matter how much patch it i'll never trust it to be robust in non-glibc environments

aaaaaa it seems go 1.24 added an entire fips crypto module whose tests are now failing in specific modes for mysterious reasonsconsidering my level of care about fips garbage is just about zero i'm so tempted to just nuke that test and not investigate further

lol, so i'm updating chimera's rust to 1.85 and getting errors about "unknown target x86_64-chimera-linux-musl" from the bootstrap tool...as it turns out, cc-rs starting with 1.2.0 joins the list of rust libs that misunderstand the concept of a target triple and change to shipping a static, pre-generated list of triples taken from rust nightlyi was already bitten by `tree-sitter test` breaking due to this, now rustc, this will soon make my life even more hell once more things update to it

@domi there are probably like 5 crates variously used by various things (this one is worse because it's an official one so it's used by a lot more things) that all do this stuff, i.e. force a bunch of known triples and hard error if yours does not matchpatching it from every application is a pain...this is worse though because it used to work and in the new version it does not, so once the new version starts making it into lockfiles, everything will go to hell

@domi i'm really annoyed by this kinda stuff because like, do those people even want us to package things at alli'm so tempted to dump all but necessary rust software from the repository and say "if you like cargo and rustup so much, maybe you should use them" but i won't because it's not the users' fault and i don't wanna be pettybut at the same time, this ecosystem is like the only one that is consistently giving me random pains like that, like it's punishing me for keeping up with it
