@Klassika @foone I know someone who has one. Neat party tricks, but he has to be careful around magnets.

I'm rather pleased with today's purchase. 4 port power switchable USB hub. Now the music accessories plugged into my iMac can be powered off. And, more importantly, the digital piano (out of shot, an 88 key Roland) can be disconnected without having to remove the USB cable (happens often).I should have bought this hub many months ago.

I would have preferred to have the cables hidden. I do know a guy who makes an MQTT controlled switchable USB hub, but he's in Canada, so the postage will likely be speedy.Huh, I could replace the buttons with an ESP32...

I wish recipes had realistic cooking times on them.

@vik haha, yeah, I brown/soften them till they look ready. This time certainly varies. In my butter chicken recipe it says "Cook chicken pieces for 3 minutes till browned". 3 minutes? Yeah, right.

Awesome. legal@adobe.com is an unattended mailbox, that tells me to email my Adobe representative. I don't have one. So, how I do tell Adobe to stop calling me? I've told the caller this the last 3 times, yet they keep calling me.Fuckers.

This week I'm at home on leave all week without kids. Recovering from having my wisdom teeth extracted, so can't do much physical stuff. Ideal for some home network administration, but oh, my, where do I start?! So many things I want to do...

One project with intermittent test failures, I left it running the test suite 100 times over night (completed 90 in 12 hours) but I had a test failure. One. It could take a long time to resolve this issue, and prove (ha) that it is resolved.

I now have almost 200 test runs and I've spotted a pattern. I have a hunch. Now to test it.

It'll probably be another 24 hours till I know if this has fixed it. The joys of intermittent issues (this isn't really a bug).

First power cut with the whole house battery system. Unfortunately there was no seamless cut over, power goes out for about 5 seconds then comes back on. But when the grid comes back, it isn't noticeable. Definitely still need UPSes for the critical gear.Looking forward to when I can put in some automation to stop charging the car when on battery only.

But, it was nice having everything turn back on quickly - even if I then have to quickly turn off a heat pump and unplug the car!

Sigh. The recommended approach to getting git on a LibreElec box is make a Docker container. I've done this, but it takes 21 seconds to run git. I feel this is the "fuck you" approach to installing software.

@strypey Sadly they are Lithium Ion. I have an Enphase Energy system. Hopefully in the future they'll provide other options.

My 15yo had an appointment at the hospital today. Afterwards, he asked if we could go into the hospital chapel since they have pianos, including a grand.40 minutes and counting of him banging out music.

Santa gave Mr13 a Bluetooth music page turner pedal thing. Today Mr13 installed Debian on an old Surface Pro laptop so he can use that for sheet music at the piano. It seems to be working well.I do need to track down another power as I want to try the other Surface Pro I have into a dashboard for Home Assistant.
