also because I'm using a tiny amount of data and a high resolution, it's actually entirely possible to transform them back with polar to rectangular and still have the code scan. dunno about the resolution they'll appear in game though

holy SHITI knew QR codes were outright designed to be able to take a lot of punishment and still be able to be read, but I shrank one of the polarized ones to 50x50, used polar to rectangular, and it STILL read properly

@foone there is, of course, issues with the fact that a lot of people on the other side of the equation know about API 0. I remember when twitter started making The Changes, they also got REALLY strict with automation detection to the point where it was dinging the average user because it seemed like they MIGHT be trying to bypass the lack of an API

something that bluesky does that I think other platforms should adopt is not leaving alt text in a tooltip. if you click on an image with alt text in bluesky, it puts the text in a box below the image. this is extremely handy if you want to do things like copy alt text easily for, say, translation purposes

not only does this maintain screen reader compatibility, but it opens up more avenues in how to use alt text from other accessibility standpoints. it can draw attention to specific elements or context that people with visual processing issues may struggle with, or people who have difficulty identifying what about an image is notable
