I grew up in a scene where to push back an organized neo-nazi influx of the punk scene in town we would literally beat the shit out of people if they were wearing shoelaces that matched neo-nazi gang colors. I have friends who were stabbed, ran over by cars, ... I've been in armed stand-offs.Arguments that I'm blocking people to create a safe space is a joke. It's never been safe, and my existence is balancing my own danger with how dangerous I am to those that want me dead.

There are a lot of calls to formalize institutions around the fediverse. Personally, I think such calls should be rejected outright.While the existence of large instances necessitates such formalization and institutionalizing the solution should be to destroy the large instances and decentralize the power into the hands of each individual.

#FediBlock infosec.exchange will be hosting the official account of CISA, The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, (part of Homeland Security). My decision to block them and to call for more to as well will likely have serious professional repercussions for myself. However, this is an ACAB account, and the community I have here is one where "spot the fed" actually means something. No feds on the fediverse.

oh, btw, I'm not responding to people in that thread from earlier at all. I vented elsewhere. I blocked anyone who defended CISA. It's not that big of a deal if you don't agree with me. I honestly don't care if you defederate from info.ex that much. However, I just don't trust clowns who defend a govt agency against my toot.

Reading through the SCOTUS docket and seeing the briefs being filed. It's worth noting the professors, experts, unions (AFT), and student borrower advocates that going to bat to fight for student borrowers. All of the reporting has been focused on the right wing politicians and their PACs trying to stop forgiveness, but teachers, workers, and organized student borrowers are fighting back out of the spotlight.

I've been seeing a lot of, "the police we should be worried about are already here and undercover not wearing their uniform. So, it's ridiculous to block/defederate public cops hosting instances"This argument misses the point. Yes, of course I am aware state threat actors exist covertly. That is a separate thing.
